Unimpressive season, went 17-8 in September (against poor quality teams no less), yet I see people talking about them beating the Cubs even without home field?

Can someone please explain the logic to me? Cubbies have excellent pitching and their batting lineup is dangerous. Home field to boot and hopes of breaking the 100 year curse? C'mon now...

Soto and DeRosa are hurt. They havent played in about a week and last time we saw Soto he had to leave the game after swinging the bat. He is a major question mark in this series considering he caught these guys all year long. Nobody has as good of number with Blanco as they do Soto. Secondly, the Cubs staff is not what it once was during the season. Zambrano is struggling with his control and Harden has lost velocity. The Cubs dont have a decent lefty out of the pen and Wood has been getting scored on pretty much every time he has been in there. Im guessing those are the reasons people are taking the +200 on the Dodgers.

The curse is also something that needs to be considered. Not exactly that there is a "curse," but the fact that these guys are playing with 100 years of pressure on their backs is not an easy thing.

If you told me the Brewers will beat Chicago then OK, I can see that happening. I follow the Dodgers a lot since I'm a night owl and am always up to watch/follow the west coast teams....and let me tell you, these guys are not an impressive bunch compared to every other playoff team this year.

Its not so much of a play on the Dodgers as a fade against the Cubs. I tihnk thats the thing that you guys are understanding.

As evident by their record over the course of the season; however, they're a different ball club with Manny Ramirez in that line-up and given the fact that the Cubs will be heavy favorites here, it wouldn't completely shock me for this series to go five games.. and as the old adage goes "anything can happen in game (in this case five) seven."

I'm not advocating a play on the Dodgers, but they are getting back their starters at the right time in Furcal and Kent (who's coming off the bench).

Look at the line-up for tomorrows game, 1-8 looks solid...balanced line-up. Casey Blake batting 8th!

Tough to win a 5 game series when you lose game 1, and Dempster is as good as it gets when hes at home.
