He wasn't. You're thinking of DePodesta who is now an assistant with the Padres. Colletti go his start as a beat writer in Chicago I think and then was an assistant under Sabean in SF - also a terrible GM.

Oh duh. My bad. Don't mind me.

For what it's worth, I'm allowed a single error a year. I just hit my quota.

Why are they still at 18-1 to win it all...i got them for that before the season started. I would have assumed it went way down today with the trade

Why the hell will anyone pitch to Manny in this lineup. I'll take my chances with Loney or Kent behind him every time. Manny will find lots fewer RBI chances in this lineup.

Torre loves Pierre? That franchise was ready to keep him on the bench for 75% of the games going into the season. He was the odd man out in that outfield entering the season. Pierre openly expressed his frustration. If Torre loved him so much he'd have been given a starting spot like he was promised when he came off the DL, because that offense was stagnant as hell and Andru Jones became the worst hitter on the planet.

As far as the Mets go...how are they similar at all? They're not. Mets had seasoned veterans sprinkled in with stars and no one was performing up to par. You're really comparing the situations and youth of those teams?

That's ridiculous. Sorry, but I don't consider these players on the Mets to have 'woken up' and realized their talent: Reyes, Beltran, Delgado, Easley, Schneider, Chavez, Wright.

Those guys are for the most part veterans (even Reyes and Wright), and they started playing better, especially Delgado.

Dodgers are still in the same position they were earlier in the year - .500ish. Their pitching's saved them. Make no mistake, if Loney, Martin, Ethier, and Kemp pick up their play the rest of the year, it'll be because they're good, AND because they just acquired one of the best hitters of our time, who, I'd venture to say, provides just a little bit of protection in that lineup.

I think you contradicted yourself a bit with your post but I don't feel like expanding right now. We argue enough as is.

Question is, where will Manny hit in the Dodger line-up? Before or after Kent? Or before or after Martin? Torre could play this out several ways...

I'd sandwich him in between Martin and Kent personally.

How did I contradict myself? Aside from maybe miswording, I still completely disagree with your statement that these kids were going to 'wake up' and start playing well regardless if manny was there or not, and als odisagree with your comparison of the mets and the dodgers. completely different situations. Sorry, but I'll take Beltran, Delgado, Wright and Reyes to 'wake up' during a season more likely than a bunch of youngsters that have talent but lack consistency

minimizing Manny's impact. don't know why anyone would do that

We both argue alot. I'm just not in the mood really right now.

The Dodgers' turnaround will have more to do with Kuroda, Kershaw, and some of the other veterans on the team "waking up". Manny will definitely play a part though. I just think there are alot of guys who have underachieved and the time is right for them to kick it into gear.

I don't want to get into it right now though. The sun kicked my ass today and I'm tired.
