They give up the best setup man in the game in Mota, and sure enough the new setup man, Driefort gives up the lead in the eighth. Not complaining. Although I am a Dodger fan, I have San Diego in this one. Get the lead before Gagne.
i am a lifelong dodgers fan - but for the short term i'm thrilled about the trade - because my padres 35-1 to go the WS and 75-1 to win it - looks better and better every day!
Gagne worked 3 full innings today picking up the win as the Dodgers beat the Padres 2-1 in an exciting 12 inning game. It was the first time he pitched more than two innings since he became the team's closer in 2002. Gagne allowed two hits, struck out two and walked one. He is now 4-0 on the season.
it was brilliant dealing by LA. lo duca has a less than post all star break performance every single year, and both penny and finley (a hell of a bat BTW) have playoff expierence, not something LA had.
Finley's numbers are padded by hitting in the best NL hitters park aside from Coors. Difference between him and Bradley defensively is minimal now at Finley's age. Total waste of time trade. Hardest thing about the LoDuca trade is the emotional aspect as he was a fan favorite and leader. They did need a top flight starter plus resigning LoDuca would have been very hard as Beltre should be the offseason priority.
