Is it really possible for a team as a whole to lose the ability to hit? If one or two guys go on a major slump(as Shawn Green did this season), does it affect the rest of the lineup or team? I have a buddy who loves to say "defense wins championships". Is that just for football.....and my last question is (I promise)......What chance in hell do my Dodgers have to win the Wild Card?
I bet Gary Sheffield is laughing. He might have been an ass, but he kept their offense half-way respectable. And what happened to LoDuca, this guy was supposed to make everyone forget Piazza. Even Karros, the guy they blamed for their lousy offense is doing better away from the team. If they don't fire the hitting coach after this season, I would be stunned. Wait, he probably will quit before they can kick him out.
They already did fire Jack Clark, lol. In a stadium as hard to hit in like Dodger Stadium you need guys who will take a walk and they don't have that. Hell, back in the 60s in the dead ball era guys like Gilliam and Wills walked almost 200 times combined. Championship quality Dodger teams will finish 1st in pitching and middle of the pact in offense due to the park they play in. Pretty amazing they even come this close to be honest.
