You've mentioned a couple of times that pulling out of Gaza is a horrible move on Sharon's part. Forgive my ignorance here, but could you explain why that is? I've just been under the impression that any move to give Palestinians more land would be a good thing. Then again, I'm not overly familiar with the conflict.

Thanks,
X.

Xpanda:

Giving up peace for land DOES NOT work when dealing with this situation .. Rabin was killed in 1995 by his own folks for moving that concept forward

This is Israels land .. given to them by God ....

There is no language known as Palestinian. There is no distinct Palestinian culture. There has never been a land known as Palestine governed by Palestinians. Palestinians are Arabs, indistinguishable from Jordanians (another recent invention), Syrians, Lebanese, Iraqis, etc ... Only one group of people have continuously lived in Israel for the past 3,700 years - the Jews. Jerusalem, in particular, has had a Jewish majority since the 1840s, 40 years prior to the beginnings of Zionism. Seventy-five percent of the land in east Jerusalem, which the press calls "historically Arab east Jerusalem," has been owned by Jews since 1947. The nations that inhabited the land prior to the Jews are no longer in existence, for they have been absorbed into various other peoples throughout the millennia. The Arabs of Israel only came to the land in 632 with the Muslim invasion

An amazing occurence happens every time the USA sticks its nose into the concept of Israel giving up territory ...

the relationship between catastrophic events for the last 13 years and America’s pressure on Israel to release land. Since November 1991, God has warned America that the nation was on a collision course with Him over the nation of Israel. These warnings have occurred in all three presidencies. Bill says, "While we are Israel’s protector by promoting this peace plan, we are also putting that country at risk." God warns that when touching the apple of God’s eye, there will be a reaction from Him.
Natural Disasters Or Warnings From God?

Here are a few of these warning patterns:

November 1, 1991: October 30, the Middle East peace plan process began in Madrid. On October 31, a ferocious storm, deemed "The Perfect Storm," grew over 100 miles wide. Strangely, this rare storm moved from a eastward to westward position (the weather pattern for the U.S. is westward to eastward) and ran down the East Coast, doing millions of dollars of damage, even damaging President Bush’s home in Maine.

August 23, 1992: Peace conference continues in Washington, D.C. – for the first time meeting on American soil. On August 24, Hurricane Andrew, the worst natural disaster to hit the U.S., smashed into Florida, causing over $30 billion in damages. Winds were recorded at 175 mph but may have been as high as 200. The National Hurricane Center described it as a 25-30 mile wide tornado. Bush’s ratings slipped in the polls in less than one year following the 1991 victory over Iraq during Desert Storm.

September 1, 1993: Oslo peace agreement meetings occur in Europe. Hurricane Emily meandered across the Atlantic for five days before hitting North Carolina on the very day of the peace accord agreement. This was the third hurricane to hit the U.S. on the very day of a key event of the peace process.

January 1994: On January 16, Clinton met with Syria’s President Assad in Geneva to discuss peace between Israel and that country. This peace agreement would call for Israel to give up the Golan Heights to Syria. Less than 24 hours later, a 6.9 earthquake rocked southern California. This earthquake was 25 miles from Los Angeles and was the second most destructive national disaster to hit the U.S., second to Hurricane Andrew.

January 1998: January 21, Benjamin Netanyahu met with President Clinton and was coldly received. Shortly after the meeting ended, the Lewinsky sex scandal became frontline news and Clinton couldn’t devote any time to Israel. Clinton met with Arafat the next day, but there was no effort to pressure Israel to give away land.

September 1998: September 24, Clinton was meeting with Arafat and Netanyahu to discuss the stalled peace plan in which Israel was to give away 13 percent more of its land. On the same day, Hurricane George plowed through the Gulf Coast. The storm lingered over the East Coast and dissipated when Arafat left America.

November 1998: Arafat came to Washington, D.C., to meet with Clinton, who promised Arafat $3 billion in aid and 42 other nations. The stock market, which was experiencing an all-time high, crashed 216 points that day. Both the meeting and the stock market crash made headline news. On December 1, the European stock markets crashed for the third worst crash in European history.

May 1999: May 4 (Israel time), Arafat announced the capital of Palestine was Jerusalem, and on May 3 the most powerful tornado storms to ever hit the U.S. landed in Oklahoma and Kansas. One tornado was an F-6 (there has never been an F-6 before), with winds measured at 316 mph.

September 1999: Hurricane Floyd slammed North Carolina during meetings with Israel and Palestine to divide the land.

September 11, 2001: Just prior to the terrorist attacks on September 11, the U.S. was in the process of recognizing a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as the capital.

This is a blessed country because we stand by Israel ... I hope Bush backs off though I doubt it with Solana of the EU making a proposal today ....

This region is due to explode into full scale war shortly

See X,becareful what kind of company you keep on the left.

You think I need a lobotomy.

Kidding doc, I think if the same deal came up that Clinton proposed (96?-98?) after that terrorist is dead. Both sides would jump at it.

Doc: so your reasoning is based on a belief that god wants Israel to keep its land?

I was really hoping for a more pragmatic justification, not Zionist philosophy.

Hey Doc,

Your post sounds a lot like the FLAME ads I see in US News & World report.

Israel was given this land ....

Why this country thinks giving a "Free Palestian" state is a good idea is beyond me .. and that goes for both Republican and Democratic parties .... Trust me: I WAS NOT IN LOVE WITH THE CONCEPT OF KERRY RUNNING THIS COUNTRY .. this idea would be similar to allowing Bin Laden to set up a state right next door to Arizona

I'm not Billy Graham and do not shove Religion down anyones throat ... this concept of giving up land for peace does not and will not work ... the Arab world is united in the concept of complete and utter destruction of Israel and America is a blessed country for standing behind Israel .. Bush pushing of the "Roadmap to Peace" needs to stop

Lets see what Solana proposes today ....
