GENERAL.........the person who prefers to wager offshore, is inclined to wager on types of bets the local does not offer, or has learned the concept of value..
IMo....the type of "square" that bets with a local generally bets only on
football
basketball
depending on region bases and hockey
1. side or total bets
2. parlays and teasers
doesnt care for prop bets, half-times, money-lines, reduced juice ect...
he likes things very simple, taking time to open an offshore account is too much effort, (actually its getting to the point that funding an account is quite a task)...
the offshore "square"
has discovered the "other" betting options...half-times, money-lines, generous baseball lines, ect..
the offshore square is more informed than the local square, he is more inclined to have several outs, uses a computer to keep current with line and injury changes....he does his homework when it comes to making a bet.....
when it comes to "public" action its a different market for the local and offshore books.........
now there is a type of customer that both local and offshore books can get........
the person who bets 5k or higher per position, this type of player frequently has credit with offshore spots....(in the future i can see more high-end players returning to local shops, because of the hassle of money transfers)but also have local outs......
local shops that have high-end customers, will go to great lengths to keep players happy.....
Imo.... basically speaking offshore and locals dont compete for the same type of customer....
now casino's..........thats a different story
