IF YOU ARE CONSISTENTLY WINNING .......... UUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHH DONT YOU THINK YOU SHOULD INCREASE YOUR WAGERS........... WTF

For recreational betters, no. They take thier profits and spend them. Nothing wrong with this.

This question is retarded, simply because nobody bets to gain the respect of others.

There shouldn't be a person out there who bets any amount of $ with anyone else's opinion in mind except his own.

If you're worried about someone respecting you less because of the amount you wager on a game, you should kill yourself immediately. Just like if you bet a certain amount to impress someone else, suicide is definitely the route you need to take.

Think this was a great topic IMO..

Do you guys want to know what made me create this thread?

On another forum someone made a comment basically saying that he doesn't take a $10 bettors opinion seriously.. I defended that $10 bettor by the way which really makes TRS look dumb BTW..

Nonetheless I don't believe the question is retarded because theres people out there who will not take a $10 bettors opinion seriously..

I've known people at the race track say that..

This thread makes me laugh as it reminds me of a story of how I flew to Vegas on an "up and back" to the Riviera! It was on a Monday night and the Jets were playing Denver. I was playing BJ and whenever I had a win, I kept on betting the Jets and Over as everyone else was betting the Broncos and Under. I was on a great streak in BJ and wound up having about $880 on the Jets and over.

So now I'm still playing BJ when the game is ready to go. I'm only betting $5 a hand and increasing as I won, and have a guy on the other side of the table betting green chips. I keep on telling everyone to bet the Jets and over, and this guy says to me, "What could you know betting $5 chips!" I told him that BJ was gambling and my real risk was sports betting! He just sloughed it off and had Denver and Under. Needless to say the Jets and Over came in that night!

The term 'Recreational better' would be considered a 'square' .... and squares dont win................

but if you could consistently win, you would be retarded not to increase your wagers.........

I know many recreational bettors that win. Believe it or not, not everyone fits your simple square/sharp category!

Recreational doesn't = square. It = someone who doesn't rely on it for a living.

I'm a recreational bettor, neither sharp nor squre. Or maybe I am both a sharp and a square....have fun with this one :bigfinger

This is how I view it......my "AVERAGE" wager on "ACTUAL" wagers is somewheres between $750-$1400 per game in any given month.

I would certainly not respect someone NOT respecting me just because they wager $20,000+ per game and I do not............and this is the same reason that I respect somebody even if most of their wagers are less than $50 per game..............

The truth is many, many of those that wager less than $50 a game win more money sportsbetting in the longterm than many of those that wager $10,000+ per game...............those are the facts!

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

IF THESE SMALL BETTORS WERE MAKING MONEY...... DONT YOU THINK THEY WOULD EVENTUALLY BECOME BIG BETTORS ......... WHY MAKE 50 MEASLY DOLLARS, WHEN YOU CAN MAKE 5K........... SO I DONT THINK THIS IS TRUE..........JUST A DUMB STATEMENT

For JUST ONE example, do you realize what some mega superstar poker professionals lose sportsbetting and how much they wager per game?

Internet sports gambling is a 12 billion dollar business..

So it's pretty obvious there is a huge supply of large bettors that lose..

A Square is a novice.
Many recreational betters are not novices.

You are right. Sometimes I get a little peeved when I feel soemone is insulting the little guy. But unless you know him personally I'm not sure how you can make that judgement. My 50-$100 does not mean I don't know what I'm talkning about. BTW 7-1 now in bowl games.

Gotta respect them. They doing the same thing you doing just at a more conservative "possibly" smarter approach.

Laughing reading this thread. Just the other night I went over to a friends who had a poker game, he lives in a 800K + home. The neighborhood guys came over all very professional people. No one bought in for more than 20 bucks. My dad and his lawyer friends used to play for change.

To me it's allways been the guys that can't afford it that want to raise the stakes on anything from fantasy football, a poker game, to bets on a game.

Personally bet according to my bankroll at a given time. Right now I put about 500 average in total action a day in. On Sunday could be thousands, on a slow weeknight I'll make one 50 dollar play. My local takes minimun 100 dollar plays.

On a side note---
I didn't see too many HUGE bettors at the RX BASH. Just a bunch of great normal friendly guys betting it up at the tables.

Somewhat related but I remember sitting at a blackjack table once where two friends were sitting side-by-side, betting $2.00 a hand......one of them got dealt ace-ace, the dealer had a rag and when the friend mentioned about splitting the pair of aces the other person said that'd be putting too much money on the line.

And I thought "too much money when you're going to be sitting there for hours playing how many hundred hands.....so you play for an extra $2.00 when proper strategy absolutely screams for a split and this is too big a risk?"

There was some justice rendered as the ace-ace hand was hit and the dealer put a king on it......player motioned for another card and the dealer busted the hand with another 10 card.:103631605

I don't have much against the 5-10 dollar players but it seems like all the phobias and superstitions and lucky this/that come out in force when they're making their picks trying to handicap a game or watching a game hoping for a win. At least the newbies anyway........I'm sure there are 5-10 dollar players whose life position dictates that's all they can afford or they're just playing casually at their own comfort level.....I can understand and respect that.......

Bettors should bet a high enough amount that their handicapping remains focused.

If they bet too much, they become scatter-brained while losing and if they bet too little, they lack incentive to be detailed.
