Lol. . I remember those days too. I always would call those numbers and the first time I would pay attention to see how long the commercials lasted and then everytime I would call after that I would just call and put the phone on the table until like 50 seconds was up and then I would pick it up and listen to the scores.

NEVER watch when I have UNDERS

ALWAYS follow the game when I have OVERS

If I have a side, I watch/follow if I have the time.

Gotta remember that whether you watch or not, you ain't gonna affect the outcome.

BUT, if you do watch, you may catch something that leads you to a halftime play that can minimize or eliminate your loss on the game bet, or at least learn something useful for the next bet when that team is involved.

You sound exactly like me. On Sat. in the fall my VCR gets a workout. If there is a game that I`m really interested in I won`t bet on it or I tape it and watch later. I`ve even gone so far as to tape the last 5 mins usually for totals in Hoops. The stress I used to put myself under took all the enjoyment out of it. I can`t change (type A) so I just try to make it easier. Crazy I know and non-gamblers think I`m nuts. Hate to watch games in a Casino, the LV Hilton was the worst. You wouldn`t believe some of the crazy shit I go thru for updates. Are we having fun yet?? I`m an "under" player so if I do bet an over sometimes the game is actually fun. No wonder all my ex`s ARE x`s.

I hate watching the games I bet on. Fortunately, almost all the US games are played when I sleep - so I'm not tempted to follow. First thing in the morning I check the results and either:party: or:sad3:

I dont know if I would rather start my day with a bunch of bad news or go to bed after a horrible night. Both ways suck!

On the other hand waking up to a great day would be sweet! There is nothing like going to sleep after a great night either!

If you guys had a choice what would you rather do?

Id rather know before I go to sleep, if I dont know I will have trouble sleeping wondering. Anticipation is the worst for me.

I usually follow sportsline myself:103631605

After placing a bet there's almost nothing you can do. Watching the game just brings more stress. I did my capping, placed the bet and forget. I remember last season I was following the scoreline of some Redskins game. I played the over and the line was crossed in the very end of the game by one point or a half - if I had so much stress every day I would quit gambling

I would think the so called professional gamblers don't watch...
I agree Jman they probably do not care what the score is at any given time as long as they cover in the end... hobby gamblers also have interest in the actually teams, they have there favorites and favorite players ...so they watch as they are not just playing it for the gambling aspect

Really surprised that so many don't watch. I'm a sports nut and I watch countless games that I don't even have money on. Being a sports nut is what got me into this racket. I watch about as many sports contests as I can, particularly NCAAF, NFL, NCAAB. You can look at all the stats and box scores but nothing beats getting a first person account of how a team plays. Seeing how they play against certain teams and in certain situations. No doubt it makes you a better capper. The 2 major college sports especially as you will often spot teams that are over/under rated by the betting public and you can usually ride them until the public catches up. I spend a good 20-25 hours a week watching football during football season whether I have money on the games or not. It's like poker in that you have to remove your emotions from the game. You try to get your your money in when you see an advantage and hope for the best. Try to learn from the games you have money on rather than just be a cheerleader.

agreed JIm. I'm huge sports fan, not just in gambling terms. Most of the games I do watch are games I am not wagering on. More objective way to watch the games, imo, when your not openly rooting for one side.

People tend to be more critical on the side they're on, and not giving credit to the opponent for a good performance when money is on the line. Hard to scout a team "objectively" that way.

I watch the games for entertainment, adrenaline, and to pick up on angles for future plays. Box scores can be very misleading.

BTW, if you call 1-800-555-TELL you can get up-to-the-minute scores with no advertisements. It is voice activated, so you can even say the name of the team you want to check scores for. I don't know who runs that service or how they make any $$ w/out ads, but I use the HADES out of it to check scores.

Unbelievable amount of people don't watch games. I think the true pro's do indeed watch the games Journeyman. I rely on it for future reference and halftime opportunities. I would think the best would have to do this.
