I had someone who I hadn't seen or talked to (in a few months) call me up and ask for $100 tonight. Someone who I haven't talked to asking for money after that long?? I must have gullable tattoed on my head, except I told her no
suomi.gif
Yes, I could easily afford to send her the $$$ but am not that stupid. I don't like users and that's what that type of person is. I realize this isn;t really a gambling topic but people do the same thing when gambling sometimes so it's relevant. I heard a couple of people in Vegas were asking others for loans

Well, we were OK friends for a bit (6 months) until she disappeared. The reason she needed money was to get back home. I don;t really know the whole story because we hadn;t talked in so long. Not sure why she asked me though,
icon_confused.gif
she has parents who are "well off". That was actually why I told her no. I am actually a very compassionate person. I guess she was embarased to ask her parents. Oh well. That's not the point though. The point is how does someone who haven't spoken to in 3 months ask someone to borrow $$$ out of the blue

She said, "I hate to ask you but....". That was all she wanted. We didn't talk, didn't ask me how I was doing, nothing

Whenever a woman asks to borrow money my knee-jerk reaction is to ask for her to earn it first. If she says no she really didn't need it badly enough to ask me for it.

Hey there Valdosta,

I agree with Angelle, you did the right thing. Maybe she has already used up her family options.

I get "acquaintances" asking to get bailed out from time to time but I tell them I only loan money to the IRS.

If memory serves didn't you tell me you lived in Douglas County a while back? I live in Gwinnett.

Valdosta, I have noticed that people who ask for loans from "friends" are users and are not really friends. You would of never seen the $100 so it was wise to just say "no". The reason she did'nt ask her "well off" parents is that they probably would have made her pay it back. With you she would of gotten a free $100 and the thrill of scamming someone out of $100.

Valdosta,

We should try and get some ATL area people together somewhere for a small RX gathering.

If there are any others around. I swear someone said they lived in Douglasville.

My girlfriend works for a cool sportsbar that would probably spring for some free food and bevs.

I'm gona sign out for the night and hit the showers as I have to be at work downtown at 3:30 a.m. C-ya

I have 26 pals who owe me money, well, at least they used to be my pals, not anymore. Money changes people.. These 26 people don't call me anymore because they know they owe me money, so they avoid me... If you have a real pal who wants to borrow money, don't lend him, trust me. It will change your whole relationship with him. Money really does change people. it's very very sad..

If you want to lose a friend, the best way to lose him is to just lend him money.. Money and friends don't mix..

Valdosta - I only lend money when I want to get rid of someone. If the $100 would buy me peace of mind it's worth it. LOL. I loaned a poker playing acquaintance of mine a few bucks as he was always bumming rides and following me game to game. Tight ass player too who averaged playing one hand every two hours. I knew the $$$ I gave him I'd never see again but it keeps him way away. He's giggling over the $$ and I'm giggling over this guy disappearing from my life. LOL. Saved that much in gas alone. One of those win-win situations.

I honestly don't have a problem loaning real friends money. When I loan someone money I don't plan on getting it back.I was just amazed that she called me out of the blue as she did. $100 isn't shit to me at this point but that's not the point.

Totally agree, valdosta, and you did the right thing. I would say guys ask for loans more than girls, or at least that's how it is around me, and I get asked lots and lots of times. It's almost automatic that if you're open, polite, and friendly with someone and you have more money than they do, then you are expected to share the wealth. It really boggles the mind and makes me feel like a Martian on the planet of the apes. And of course there are also the gays who take niceness as a come on. Conclusion: best strategy is to be a jerk from the get-go!!!

You did the right thing by saying no.

I give her a wee bit of credit for at least coming right out and asking for it and not giving you some b.s. sob story punctuated by crocodile tears.

I used to think that lending money to a "friend" would be a good way to get rid of them, but you'd be suprise...these people forget. I led her the money, then she calls me 6 months later asking for money again. And just to remind her, I tell her "I don't have it THIS time". "ok, thanks anyway." she says. Thats it .....no "oh yeah , i forgot....i owe you $300." She's called me 2 more times after that asking for dough. Believe me, this woman has a lot of (special guy friends) that she can ask, but its always me.
