the studio is expecting between 15 and 20 million for MAID IN MANHATTAN. J Lo's picture is everywhere and it has high awareness. I think their estimates are a tad high. this is just my gut feeling based on my years on the business and the fact that she is opposite Ralph Fiennes, which I always though was a strange combo.
this is a tough weekend to predict--Star Trek has its core business of 20 + and I'm not sure how much of that business takes away from other movies. HOT CHICK is getting all the teenage boys, which might drag away some of the girls from MAID. Fox has had sucess with urban movies lately, so I expect DRUMLINE will do a fair amount of business (7 to 10) and will take some business that would've gone to MAID. However, historically there isn't enough $$$ to go around to cover all of these movies. One or more of them might take a real hit. I haven't been real impressed with Sony's tracking lately, so I'm going to say that MAID IN MANHATTAN will not do more than 18 million. however, I was dead wrong on ANALYZE THAT, so you might not want to listen to me.
good luck
