Ever go online and check the lines .... then you select your wager and the Line moves on you ?

Pisses me off sometimes

Maybe it's just bad timing.............?

If it is close to game time understandable.. but if it always happen a few hours before the game.. something is up... But then again, no respectful book would mess with the lines like that.. no point and bad for bizz.

I've only had it happen in obscure CBB totals and MLS soccer. One time in MLS soccer, was putting the bet in on an app, it came up an error and my bet didn't go through, when I brought it back up they moved the line 40 cents! I've never had a problem getting market value with betting any of the big four sports though. I don't waste my time capping the small market stuff any more.

I've had it happen both ways. Today I made a wager at -120....then the line changed to -110.

This pisses me off to no end because it NEVER EVER moves in my favor.

Literally it has pissed me off sometimes to the point where I went and put a bet in on the opposite side.

Go to play the NYG -3 -110 and it goes to NYG -3 -125? Fuck you I'll take Dalls +3 +105

Hahaha

Have not seen a change when making a bet. I definitely have suspected of being 'profiled' with locals.

But, this can work both ways. Always nice to hit the other side of what they 'anticipated'

Yep I agree with BAS & think it's just bad timing, but I do believe that we've all been through this before, when we put in our wager and submit, but it tells us the line has changed.

And then there's those rare times it does it TWICE!

I wish there was a button where you automatically accept a 0.5 line movement or 10% vig adjustment on the confirm screen.

I have had lines move like mad when trying to in game and then end up not getting the bet in in time

if you are making a wager when a line moves across the board than yes it happens to a person all the time. but if just making play at a random time than thats bad luck/good luck depends on what side you are wagering on

I would never feel comfortable giving a book this sort of leash.

Close to game time the line often moves as I am placing my bet...... but since I am usually on underdogs it is usually changing in my favor. If you are betting chalk close to game time then it is going to seem like it is always moving against you.

if you are sharp and/or shopping dilligently, then the line will almost NEVER move in your favour.
i have a friend who had this happen to him consistently at a few books. he felt that he was being used
as an unpaid line service as they would move the number on air not accepting any (or very, very few) bets
from him at the original desirable price. he was NOT betting steam. he called up both books and talked to
the sportsbook managers. he said if they didn't want his action, he would leave as he didn't want to waste
his or their time. at BOOK A, they agreed to accept all of his bets at a very low limit and all bets above that would have
to be called in and subject to line revisions. not the best solution, but fair. at least he was compensated
as their line service. at BOOK B, they said on thinly traded sports or markets they couldn't help much.
on more active markets where they could generate cross action by moving a number, they would try to
accept his bets. so, if you are having this happen to you, call the sportsbook/line manager and talk to them
nicely. maybe you will get some resolution to your problem. hope this helps..

I bet underdogs almost exclusively yet it always moves against me.

Local with a PPH started this bS this year. Line would maybe move, but the juice always moved a couple points. It did go with my wager a few times, but every time I hit submit it would say lines are no longer valid. Happened a lot in the NFL playoffs, so we will see if it will continue come September

What is done most of the times, especially if you bet with a local that uses a PPH shop, is that they preset their package or a group of players to get a modified line on a certain game.

For example I had a guy that had a bunch of players that loaded on the pats constantly, so he would always call in and have us set his pats line 10 or 15 cents above the number... or even half a point in the spread. So if a player would take pats -3 (-110) the line will be moved to -3 (-125). A far as books taking action directly (not in PPH fashion) I guess there are books that take this route, to move your line and/or do a consultation with the book manager if they accept the bet with an x line for an x amount; manager can proceed to limit down the amount or simply offer a diff line, but this is more common with huge whales that bet over the phone (and not necessarily sharps, long time losers that bet 20k-40k a game) the usual is just to bet the steam bets across bigger books than yours and for even bigger amounts, will work in the long run

Kind of on this same line but I was in Vegas in May. Bet $300 on the Jays to win the world series at 25-1. My buddy came down for breakfast about 15 minutes later. This was at 9 am when the book opened at the Stratosphere. He said good bet im doing it. We went over and he asked for the ticket for $200. The guy says the line is now 15-1.???? Seriously??? A smelly $300 bet changed the line 40%. Makes no sense. We went for drinks to the C Bar till noon and he said whatbthe fuck and went and bought the ticket anyway but wow that's really weird. (Or am I wrong)
