<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> Penalty for having a lot of bats
you are a weird man!
My question is,how can you check all bats,of all players, all teams etc? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
One; he had 77 bats, one of which was illegal and clearly marked, yet he picked the ONE bat, which was clearly marked out of 77 unknowingly? The ODDS are extremely against it happening UNKNOWINGLY.
Two; Non-destructive testing (x-ray) is how they could determine whether all bats are legal prior to the batter stepping to the plate...perhaps an x-ray machine located near each dugout with some league "official" verifying.
Personally, I think if the bat's exterior is made of wood it's ok, regardless of the type of wood or what core it might possess.
Of all the programs, interviews, etc. broadcasted regarding this matter...NO ONE has mentioned that the probability of Sosa grabbing the WRONG/ILLEGAL bat UNKNOWINGLY was 1 out of 77 !
Extremely unlikely or unlucky ?
Think about it.
