Any team that has Jason Phillips hitting clean up shouldn't be favored over anyone.

Yeah, but I called the shutout!!

And almost got the score right too... said 4-0 ends up 6-0.

Just bragging, but we both win, so congrats to us all!!

Take SF/Tomko and dog money.

Great value on Tomko b/c he was bad early on this year (10 losses, first time in his career) but people don't realize he had problems with his mechanics. When he was demoted to the bullpen he fixed his mechanics and last start was dealing. His numbers from last start don't tell the story: 5 IP, 6 H, 1 ER.

He had location & movement on his fastball and cutter which he didn't have earlier in the season. Despite Tomko's problems, he is still maintaining a WHIP this year (1.40) near his career average (1.36). His K/IP and K/BB are BETTER than last year when he was dealing, and his K/IP is better than his career average.

What do these WHIP, K/IP, and K/BB mean? The story is that despite Tomko's mechanics problems, he didn't changed the way he pitched. He still goes after hitters and doesn't do the pitch around or switch to a different technical/style of pitches. The reason he's given up a lot of runs early in the season is because when his fastball & cutter don't have movement, it flattens out. Tomko has never given in this season on any count and he'll go after hitters with 2-strikes and that flat fastball/cutter results in a base hit.

But now that he's fixed his mechanics, the key is understanding that is psychology and attitude never changed throughout his pitching slump this year. This is a huge differentiation from a typical bullpen demotion where a pitcher has "lost it". It takes a lot for most pitchers to "get it back" b/c they not only have to fix their physical pitching issues, but also the way in which they pitch. Tomko has never changed the way in which he pitched.

Consistency is the key, and Tomko gets er done today.

SF to take 3 in a row for LA and sole possession of 3rd place in the NL West, LOL.

How's that for analysis mr. "what have you done 4 me lately?"
