I have heard several posters say that short cards favor the books, but I have never heard the rationale behind this statement. It seems to me that this is true. What are the reasons? For example,EGD,who is a good capper, had a terrible day on the two game card of the NBA on Thursday.

Maybe, when we see a short card, we should do something else, like taking Wifey to dinner.

This has been true for me in College Football this season. The service we use has a tendency to force picks he would normally probably not play on Tues through Friday.

4-0 in NBA last night however!!

Shortcards favoring the books is counter common sense. The more games, the more rope degenerates have to hang themselves with and the odds are with the books. A couple of plays on the card and the books are suceptable to sharps who only have to weed through a couple of games to get a winner.

With fewer games it should offer sharper lines and theoritcally less value for the player. The more games the book has to line the more information left uncovered about some of the games.

I think that when there is a short card, there is a tendency for some bettors to play games they wouldn't ordinarily play if there were more games to choose from because they want to be in action....even if it means sacrificing equity.

Good answer Zap. Short cards are good for the books because there is less value to look for as a player. How many people will bet Monday night football just to have a bet? Lot of them.

It's like going to a bar with 500 chicks or a bar with 2, you can't be very selective at the latter bar....
