I always read the max bets allowed at sportsbooks (dreaming) and see a lot say they will take a 25k bet on a NFL game....does it happen? and if so at what amount would a guy who bets 25k per game get cut off?
If a player was a sharp laying down 25k wagers that player would prob get limits cut after one good weekend.
Sample 1: Lets say just for the sake of conversation 20 players call in a wager on Team A for a total of 7k in action. And another 20 players call in wager on Team B for a total of 9k in action. Both teams are a (-110) Team A wins.
(in this sample the book gets 9,900 and pays out 7k they made 2,900 off of 40 players on that event)
Sample 2: Same Event as in Sample 1, in this case 40 players wager 16k on Team B. Team A Wins.
(Book makes 17,600)
Sample 3: Added game, the book has 3 people on it total, for 1k in action.
Now the first 2 samples are just one event. Lets say you owned the book that booked the action for this event. At what point would you want the sharp player to come along and wager 25k down on Team A for Sample 1, 2. or 25k to crush your numbers on 3? How long would you want that player there? Long enough to go 12-4? Long enough to tell his friends with $$ so now you have 3 sharp players going 12-4 for 25k a crack, would you want that?
So when would a book cut you laying 25k a game? The answer is when there numbers are not making sense for them anymore. People will say the books are happy with sample 1, at even action or almost at even action. I will say the books love sample 2, and why not. Who does not wanna clean up every now and then. However the books do not like anyone crushing there numbers.
The one sharp player at 12-4 gets 300,000 for the 12 wins and gives up 110,000 for the 4 lost games. The sharp makes 190,000 for 2 weeks. And next week his friends will be at your book to tail since you welcome that action. So do you want his action? Or do you wanna Cut him?
