Considering why Pitt didn't go for the field goal on fourth down needing two scores had me and my friend wondering if calls are being made from
higher ups. Of course we took Philly -3. Thoughts anyone?

Dear Einstein,

It would have made it a 6 point game.

Yes, we bet on our own team because making a net profit exceeding $40M a year is not enough, but let's see if we wager $10K and ruin our reps and ensure we are removed as owners of the Steelers, but at least we covered with Philly!

Sincerely,

And Eddie DeBartolo never bet on his team when he owned the 49ers ? dream on, he bet millions, not 10 k.
I think he was being sarcastic though. It's a no brainer that you kick a field goal on 4th and 10 and then on-side kick it and go for the TD second. If you had Pitt plus the 3 1/2 then you might have wanted them to go for thr Td first....are you getting all this ?

They probably don't bet, but the OP's question is legit. I didn't watch the game, but if Pitt was in FG position at the end and down by more than 8, why wouldn't they have kicked a FG?

yeah baby, You see, Even though we own the team, the players are the real spoiled millionaires, we are still poor and need extra income to make ends meet.

Our regular income is food stamps, as our fat payroll all goes to the players weekly pay checks. And since we can't buy booze with food stamps, we have to gamble on our teams to find some beer money to get through the long and grueling season.:missingte:missingte:missingte

Debartolo was a mobster before he became an owner and how is he doing now?

Also, the Rooneys' have owned the team for 75+ years and its worth over a $1 Billion dollars. When Eddie was involved the NFL did not have a a mult-billion dollar TV contract.

The majority of them probably bet but most likely having someone do it for them of course.

No shit dumbass, you are the one asking why they didn't kick it. It wouldn't have had an impact on the spread if they kicked it, you useless piece of shit.

I think the FG shoulda been kicked there.. as opposed to a 11pt game (yes, i'm looking at you crennel... u need 2 TD's not 2 FG's). I still wouldn't have covered with pitt... but I think FG was right--if he woulda done it.

He should have kicked it for sure. So many coaches do this every time. Jim Zorn did it against the Giants.

I think everyone agrees that the Steelers should have kicked the FG, but to question whether it's because owners bet the game is a bit extreme.

And almost just as stupid an argument as to why they don't.

Do you think Michael Jordan or Charles Barkley needs the extra money? Think Pete Rose needed the money.

That said, OF COURSE the Rooneys don't bet on the Steelers.

Hey dumbass, let me dumb this down for you

1. they are down two scores
2. it is fourth down
3. a touchdown would have an impact on the spread
4. we had philly -3 so we are hoping for field goal so we cover

Please think before you respond
