Do NFL game totals land on odd or even more often?

I would think Odd because it can't end in a tie (even) and 1 point games would always be odd.

anyone have stats on this? I am trying to better my contest form :)

37 and 41 are the most likely totals so I would I would say odd is a little more likely

Also if a team wins by 3 (and this happens more than any other number-hits around 10%) than game must end with odd number. Never thought of this but true:toast:

actually it is part of the reason. I have lost a few contests with that question. I will forever answer odd.

Mathematically, it's likely extremely close to equal

The lowest Total score in NFL is 3

"1" can never happen.

"2" can happen, but never has.

3 is therefore the lowest total

4 has never happened

5 has happened at least once (Skins vs Cowboys playoff game in 70s)

So 6 would be next and all numbers after that of course alternate odd and even.

I'm pretty sure that "11" is very rare and "8" is almost as rare.

All other numbers 12 and up are likely equal probability in terms of odd/even.

It would seem that ODD would be the way to go in these contests, in general

In the contest I blindly pick the Away team to receive and Odd it usually happens than I just need to get the total and side right which is the hardest part but when Mike Holgren decides to kick a field goal up 13-0 it doesnt work.

Great info here! Now remember this if some unsuspecting book puts up a Super Bowl prop at a pick.

That was Lions/Boys in 1970 5-0 final for Dallas

nice stuff goodcall. That is exactly what I was looking for. Pretty big advantage picking odd. Bigger than I would have guessed.
