Do Most Books gave a policy concerning the cancelling of a wager?

I'm talking about when there are 4 to 6 hours before the event is scheduled and you ask to cancel a wager that the player made by mistake, even offering to pay the juice for the bet.

(yes the line moved against my wager, but that has no bearing on my question?)

I have found that more and more books are NOT voiding bets under most circumstances.

Sure they have been scammed enough times to where they cannot afford to.

However, if one has a long standing relationship with a book, I have a hard time accepting them not doing everything within means to make a long standing customer happy.

Varies from book to book.

Oly lets you cancel it withing 30 minutes as long as the line has not moved.

Some books will not let you cancel it no matter what.

For those in Vegas, this is the general rule of thumb there also.

Good post oldmantime.

I think most of the good shops would allow this several hours before. I think it would be a good gesture and show of appreciation on their part to help a customer as long as it did not become habit.

Good luck

this is a no win situaton for a book, if you say no you piss off a customer,if you say yes it could become a habit. tough call

I once made a mistake at Intertops...They woudnt let me cancel the bet...The line had not moved...They woudnt even let me bet on the other side becauz I had bet the max on the game which was only 500$...I had been a cx for several years 7 or so...
In fairness to them they had done it for me once before & warned me then this was one time only.

However for a cx that had 7 years tenure I coudnt beleive they woudnt let me bet on the other side...

They wouldn't let you bet on the other side!!

I'm glad you told us here for I will NEVER play again at Intertops!! That was plain and simple wrong! They were guaranteed making a vigorish.

I'm going to forget about it this time. The book sent me an email saying that it could not be done on the internet and wanted me to call them. I explained it was definately MY mistake. So I guess, I'll eat it. Maybe bet the other side to be sure--Yes--I could get middled. But if they refuse the bet--they will not see me again for sure. I don't think that will be the case with WSEX. They are my favorite book.

You should call them. Maybe they just want to be absolutely sure about what you want to do with the bet. I can understand why they would want to talk directly with you in a case like this.

I can say that the Sportingbet family doesn't let you cancel. I was told that's why you click the "Yes" button after you get an "Are you sure" message about placing the bet. This happened to me at Sports.com where I accidentally bet an NBA game twice. Lucky for me it won

I've never tried to bet the other side after betting one side there. Usually if I buy back a game I do it at another book dealing the same line...but I've hardly ever had to do that.
