I can see it as a buyer to do title searches and so forth.
Do I need representation when selling ? They seem to want about $500.
What do they do for me ?
I held a Real Estate Brokers license in Oregon for 38 years. Attorneys usual just messed up almost all of my deals and cost everyone $$. There is no need for an Attorney normally as the Title Company does all the legal stuff in escrow process. Total waste of $$ in almost all cases.
are you in NYC or CT? get my Dougs mixed up
if CT, I know an competent, honest and reasonable atty for you
Well how many Real Estate agents or Brokers have you talked to about this ? I would say that about 95 % of Brokers and Real Estate agent would tell you exactly what I said. The only time you ever need an Atty. is when there are flaws on the Title that have to be cleared by the courts like Estate, seller has died without a will, or other legal incumbrances that the Title Company cannot clear. I had a Attorney that only handled Real Estate that I only used to clear such problems. Never use an Attorney that doesn't specialize in Real Estate. From my 38 years experience, all they do is cost both parties $$ and slow down the process. I lost several deals because the buyer or seller just said " Forget it " . To each his own..... just giving you my 2 cents worth.well you are the first one to suggest no attorney.
I do believe a lawyer is more critical to the buyer than the seller.
Well the closing is normally in the office of the buyer's attorney, which I expect will be near Westbrook. If this attorney will travel here for it and charge significantly less than the $400 quoted locally, I'm in.
It all depends on what the offer comes in at on Weds/ Thurs.
Offer could be way low ?
New haven is a bit far from here for something so mundane.
