I would think yes. For instance, if a player is a sharp, is that something that could get around? How closely do they work with each other?

judge, i am as close to positive as i can be that they did sell my phone and email. how else do you explain the jack price phone call? i can see other possible explainations for the spam emails (cookies, etc) but, my home phone is unlisted...only my friends have it. some books require a home phone as part of the sign up.

Blue,a couple possible amswers,Do you call any score phones? The phone service provider for a book,or a rogue employee from a book.I could be wrong but why would a book give a customer's # to another book or a tout? They will lose that customers biz.Unless of course it is the type of book that just plans on closing anyway. That way they wouldn't care.

If a player is running or trying to run some kind of scam, it usually comes out. That is the only kind of information shared in the business. Books do not sell info, it probably is stolen, but never sold.

If the player is a scammer, I hope that they share the info amongst each other.

judge, i recently moved. i have only had this phone number for six months. i have never called any scorephones or anything like that. i call all my bets in from a cell phone so, caller id isn't even an option.

if jack price didn't get my home phone number from a offshore book that i recently signed up with...then its the biggest coincidence i have ever experienced.

some asshole like jack price having my home phone is just about the worst thing i can think of when it comes to the gambling life colliding with the personal life (my wife doesn't know about my hobby and would not approve). the only thing worse i guess would be a clerk from a book calling my house to ask me if i want to bet the hawaii basketball game.

Some suggestions:

1) Give books slightly different middle name, or initial, or alternate spelling. If you use only a few books, this will help you track who is giving out which variation on your name.

2) Before you identify yourself to Jack Price, ask who is calling and whom they are trying to reach. Then, just pretend like they got the wrong number, the other people moved, you are a teenager/underage. This will get them to mark you as a bad number. They don't want to waste time calling dead numbers.

3) Tell them to use your office number, then give them the number a local police station or FBI office.

4) Act really stupid and tie them up with a million questions, then ask if you can borrow money from them and pay them back with the winnings from their service. Make it not worth their time to call you, until they finally give up.

If you can't beat them, don't join them, just break their balls.

there are lists of scammers and wiseguys that they share and add names when needed.

Also they know who makes charge backs using credit cards.

They try to protect each other in most cases.

Exactly, just as we like to cover ourselves from crappy books, books like to avoid bussines from scammers, chargebacks and so.

99% of books keep this information locked down tight. I highly doubt that any books who are in competition would share anything.

Rio, you should also know that most of the owners/managers know each other, i can tell you for a fact that they share info about undesirable customer, trust me, at least the ones that know each other

some books use the following technique..

they have different names/shops/
under the same Call Center.

when a Customer is pissed,
and he quit, they just call him again
and sign up, pretending they're a different shop.

Different Name, Phone, WebPage,
but, if you know a little bit
about internet, you can research and
find out, that the webserver ip address
are in the same block.

About the protection. i Agree with Rio Shill, is 99%, but how about if the Non Technical Owner have a discussion with his Technical Head Guy?... or Sales/Marketing/Customer Service...

Security... There is always a posibility... 99% - 100%

I've seen BLACK LISTS -CHARGEBACK/SCAMMERS excel spreadsheets- go round and round among some books... but I agree with Rio Shill that info on GOOD players is kept locked down, generally speaking.

Black lists are also commonly made available by the online casino software provider, or by your credit card processor. You do wrong by one casino, chances are the next casino you go to will REJECT your application for a new account. This will eventually become a stronger trend in the sports betting companies IMO.

Yes books share. Not all books and not all kinds of info but if you have ever gotten mail (email or snail) from a book you never heard of that should clue you in.

It's pretty standard for emails to be up for grabs to whoever wants to buy or trade for them.

Undesirable, yes, I agree with you 100%. The ones who are friendly with one another do share that info. My only point was that most books are not overly congenial with each other, but the ones who like each other do share critical info.
