I just got ahold of 125 civil war bullets, plus 5 buttons. The bullets were said to have been recovered on the banks of the Mississippi River at Burnside, Louisiana where there had been a moderate skirmish. Of the buttons, as best as I can ID them, one is an Alabama volunteer coat button, plus two Ala. cuff buttons. The other two are from New York division of the Union...a coat button (great shape) and a cuff. What are bullets going for these days? What would you value the buttons at?

Thanks. I researched it using several sites. It looks like the average excavated bullets are going in the $3 to $5 range. The buttons, maybe triple that. A garage sale could be imminent.

Police say leg bones found on Connecticut River island

The Associated Press

NORTHAMPTON, Mass.- Human leg bones with a boot attached to the foot were found on an island in the Connecticut River, police said Monday.

Renee Steese, a prosecutor for the Northwestern District Attorney's office, said human remains were found on Elwell Island on Sunday. The remains were taken to the medical examiner's office, and authorities returned to the island Monday to look for more remains, Steese said.

Steese would not comment on what remains were found, but Northampton police told The Daily Hampshire Gazette that leg bones were found with a boot attached to the foot.

Northampton police told The Associated Press on Monday the investigation was being handled by the district attorney's office.
