I have been playing at WSEX since december. I know they are a well respected book and an advertiser here and at several other places. Until today I had placed about $280k in total wagers there. Overall I am a winner but that should have nothing to do with this situation other than the fact that they are probably less inclined to rule in my favor as I have noticed sportsbooks in general do not like anyone who wins.
Last night I made some soccer bets on Manchester United at +120. They were playing against Newcastle United. The final score was 2-1 Manchester United.
Several other books had comparable lines:
+126 at SportingBetUSA
+120 at Intertops, Bowmans, Bet365, CaribUK, William Hill
+115 at CRIS, Bluegrass, Hollywood, etc
As you may know, WSEX only lets you bet up to $500 at a time on soccer. In the past I have made multiple bets on the same event without any problems. These include Tennis, Soccer, Baseball, Hockey, and Golf. Some of them have won and some of them have lost. Sometimes they move their line after I make my bets and sometimes they dont. In this case the line remained at +120.
I bet my entire balance, placing the wagers over a 2 hour period from 4:19am eastern time until 6:04am eastern time.
Because their software wont allow you to place the same bet twice in a row, I made the bets in varying amounts from $10 to $500 at a time. The total amount bet was $39,930 to win $47,916.
I realize this is a large amount of money. England Premier soccer games have some of the most action of any events in the world, with bettors across Europe and Asia routinely betting hundreds of thousands of dollars at a time. I also know that WSEX does not focus on booking European events, but rather they focus on booking american sports. These facts are all irrelevant.
As a major offshore bookmaker, they had ample opportunity to move their line. They also had ample opportunity to contact me or cancel my wagers before the event started at 7:00am eastern time.
All my wagers except for $500 were cancelled at 11:34am eastern time, after the game was over. My net win for the event was $600. Therefore the odds I received were -6655 instead of +120 on my $39,930. Risking $39,930 to win $600 is a very bad bet and I would never have made such a wager voluntarily.
I contacted them today and they were no help.
Please understand that I read their rules very carefully and NOWHERE on their site does it say that soccer bets are limited to $500. In fact I have made bets over $500 (by making multiple bets) on soccer in the past.
Their FAQ page is located at
http://www.wsex.com/about/new_faqs.html
It shows limits for pro football, college football, pro basketball, college basketball, baseball, and hockey. It does NOT show any limits for soccer.
Their rules page is located at
http://www.wsex.com/about/wse_rules.html
Some excerpts:
"Wagers go as executed and cannot be altered after the fact except in the case of obvious human or mechanical error"
"When a line is put up in obvious error due to a typographical mistake by the book, any customer wagers entered to take advantage of the error will be cancelled"
This line was NOT an error as it was similar to many other books as mentioned above.
"The World Sports Exchange Ltd. sports book reserves the right to refuse any wager prior to its acceptance"
The wagers were ACCEPTED. There is nothing else in the rules that could possibly apply to this situation.
Any help would be appreciated.
