Difficult Riddle

You are walking down the road and you read the following sign:

You will shortly come to a fork in the road. It is guarded by identical twin brothers. One of the brothers will always tell the truth. One of the brothers will always lie. You may ask them just one question and then proceed down the road. If you proceed on one road you will find a pot of gold. If you proceed on the wrong road you will be murdered immediately.

What is the one question you need the brothers to ask to ensure that you proceed down the right road to find the pot of gold?

I like the way you think, but the object isn't to find out who is the liar, it's to find out which road to take.

You only get one question. "What is 1+1" only tells you which twin is which. Doesn't help you get the gold. But it doesn't matter. This thread has turned insulting like most threads here do.

Since the truthful brother is stupid and don't know just ask which road has the Gold he will say don't know and the Liar will send you the wrong way

Took me awhile but you would ask one of them, "Which way would your twin brother tell me to go if I wanted to find the gold?" Then go the opposite.

Ok I think this is right

You would ask each brother, "Which road would your brother say is the safe road". They would know the safe road since they know whether to murder someone or not. Whichever road they say their brother would say is safe, you pick the opposite, since the truth teller knows the liar will lie, and the liar will say the opposite road since he knows his brother will say the safe road and the liar always lies.

Also, you would only need to ask my question to one brother. Just ask, "Which road would your brother say is safe?" and take the opposite.
