Was off by $100 on my total with my local. When reviewing the plays, turned out he had me down for $50 on one game that I had bet for $150. We have never had this problem in 5 years but wasn't sure how to handle it. I offered to split and take $100 which he agreed to. Just wondering if anyone has had this issue before and if so, how you handle it.

You did the right thing with the compromise. Move on and watch him closer. Mistakes happen.

Thanks and you are right. $100 certainly not worth any drama. And I am sure it was an honest error. I guess that was the only way TO have handled it. I felt bad as I took him for $3k this week and almost wrote it off completely, but he has taken me for plenty overthe years and I know there is not an ounce of guilt there. :)

Ive ran into this a couple times. I usually split like you did. I once took a $2500 loss and once a $1000 loss. I now make my local repeat my wagers back to me. If they wont agree to that...Get a new bookie!

In the past, my book had a VM system, so if there was any difference, it was always on the machine.

Yay for post 5,000.

That's the only way to do it. Once you repeat your password, the bet is confirmed.

As far as a mistake already made, your compromise is good solution. However, I have had Books pay me on a honest mistake in the past if we had a different figure when the phone system was less formal.

Wow. Now I would have had a problem with that much money. I'll definitely have him repeat them back to me from now on. He's usually in the bar when I call so I know it's hard for him to hear sometimes.

Vmail? Isn't that a little risky for him? I don't know if I would feel comfortable leaving picks on a voice mail...or is a recorded call?

He had a answering service where he would post his lines, and everyone was given a number. You leave your number and your plays with size. Never had a problem with it. He would state it was fantasy football on the recording. Makes it easy to go back and check plays if there are problems.
