Am I the only one who saw Ernie Sims have his helmet partially knocked off trying to fight off a block when he fell to the ground. There's nothing wrong with taking off your helmet to adjust it, even if it didn't happen the play before. Sims' problem was that he didn't put it right back on.

AFLGuru and JoeyD...I totally agree that Miami didn't deserve to win (and might have messed up a second chance anyway, we'll never know)...the point I was trying to make was that FSU dodged a bullet when they picked up the flag.

Maybe I should have named this thread "Did FSU get a lucky break?" because I guess that's what I really meant when posting it.

Dwayne Rudd should have been so lucky :)

AFLGuru...c'mon now...he didn't take it off to adjust it...he took it off and started yelling in the face of the Miami player...that in itself could have drawn a flag but as others stated the refs decided to let it slide.

Look, this is FSU/Miami... these teams hate each other. You didn't call that sh^t all game, you don't start when it could change the outcome.

Miami and FSU both look like Blues Bros-2..a shell of their previous glory.

I also never said that Ernie was making an effort to adjust his helmet. Look, I know just like everyone else that he's a thug who was just looking for trouble, but you can not throw a flag like that... If it's 1st down and Miami's only getting yards you can call it... but not on 4th down.

You never said Ernie was trying to adjust his helmet? I must have misread this...

There's nothing wrong with any given player adjusting his helmet. I was just saying that if anyone takes off their helmet to adjust it that it's legal. So it's not the second he takes his helmet off that it's a penalty. What the penalty was on the play was the fact that Ernie never put it on (and never had the intent on putting it back on). But looking at replays, he clearly got his helmet partially knocked off.

Listen, and the refs should've called an unsportsmanlike penalty at the start of the game. When FSU stomped on midfield like they traditionally do, the UM players came over there and tried to start something that was broke up by refs, asst coaches, and state troopers. Come on man, we finally beat Miami!!!!!!!!!! Ugliest game i've seen since that jets-steelers playoff game but man was it worth it. Muck Fiami!
