So if im counting right you bet 93 to win 100 as a slight dog, variance, fold equity and the extra $7 in the pot makes it probably closer to a 50/50 shot......So i guess the question is , is it wrong to gamble on a 50/50 shot for your stack ?.....

PPP, you also have to take into account that the other guy might have been on a lower flush draw as well or straight draw

People that gamble for a 50/50 shot for their whole stack are most likely not very good players and will go broke more often than not. This is a terrible play in a tournament, but probably a little better in a cash game, assuming you have more money available to you if you lose the pot. I feel like I have a big edge in most games and am very unlikely to risk my whole stack when I am most likely behind (which you were) and on a draw (which you were). It worked out and again I do not know how confident you are in your game or how much extra coin you had if you went bust.

I'm not really a numbers guy but I think there are better ways to place this hand.

Your flop bet is screaming to get it all-in which I don't know if you want to do all the time because usually you are going to be 36%-41% to win the hand. However, I think if you check to the original raiser that play is much more profitable. If he checks you get a free shot at the heart and if it comes you play the hand to maximize value and if it doesn't come you save money.

If he bets you come over the top with a big raise and you can get him off a lot of hands here. He may fold 10-10, JJ, 99, AK depending on your image and all are hands that are in his range. Hell, he has to think about folding his KQ here. I think you pick up more pots and in the long run more money with a check.

But, it is clear you were ready to gamble with it and were fine with getting your stack in at 36%-41% which I really don't mind given the game.

Thats a standard play at $1/$2 on Pokerstars.

You can get ridiculolus action on all your hands on Stars and Tilt up to $2/$4. Although, this is why more bad beats occur and you hear the whining.

If your not doing this everytime then your play is fine. I guess you put him on a missed flop and you can get him off most of his range other then AA, KK, AQ, and apparently KQ.

i like your flop bet, but when you are check-raised on the
flop there are 2 ways to play the hand.

the first way is to play it like you did, although i would
vary my play i would prefer to go all-in on a draw more often
if my opponent is a strong enough player to throw his hand
away right then after getting re-raised. also your table image
is important too. if you have been playing selectively, winning
pots, and showing only good hands then the timing is better
for your all-in bet.

the other way is to call the flop and make a big bet if you
hit your ace or a heart. this play is preferred when your opponent
has shown an inability to lay a hand down or if your table image
is not strong due to losing or showing down hands that are
weak or bluffs.

as you can see there is no 100% right play, but i've given you
my thoughts on how to make the correct decision.
hope this helps.

akilles is right, finding a game where an opponent will risk a lot of
chips calling with kq in that spot is pretty sweet. he found you
with one of the few hands where it was coin flip. most of the
time if he calls your bet, he would find himself drawing very slim
and getting much the worst of it. your play is good, his play
is terrible.

I dont like the all in bet here. With only a nut flush draw I would check to the pre flop raiser. You were likely behind in the hand and pushing when behind is never good unless you expect a fold.

I think if you checked you would have still seen the turn for fairly cheap. If you dont get your flush then you will have likely saved most of your stack.

Pretty horrible play if you ask me, the guy could easily have AA or KK as it looked like he did, there is no need to lead into him when you don't have a made hand. Check to the raiser and call his bet. On the turn you can bust him when you hit the nuts. Another reason I hate playing with people who dont give a fuck about money and go all in on a draw. Way overplayed but it worked out for you, it won't always though.
