You really cannot compare Mantle with Bill Meullar, except they are both switch hitters. Muellar batted 8th tonight and most other nights (sometime 7th). Mickey Mantle was a clean-up hitter or 3 hole hitter always. Mantle holds the major league record for hitting homers from both sides of the plate in the same game, he just never hit two with the bases loaded. Tonight was the first time Muellar hit a homer from both sides, it just so happened the bases were laoded at the time. The guys he drove in were Kevin Millar, David Ortiz, Gabe Kapler, and Trot Nixon, decent players but not exactly hall of famers. What happened tonight was great but basically a guy hitting against a weak pitching staff and having a big night. After tonights game Muellar has 54 career homers in a career that started in 1996.
