Posted this in Card Room but I know more people will see it here.....

Guys, help me with this...Played in a NL tourney today

Did I deserve this?????What if anything did I do wrong.....Was in good position to win tourney...Mid pack with chips and this would have put me even with the chip leader....

Make final table and miss cashing by one spot to someone who has no clue on how to play.....

He called every raise knowing he did not have me beat, I had pocket Queens he had Jack/Nine off-suit....I will call him genius

7 people left at final table...I am small blind have QQ...3 people call, I raise 3 times BB, BB re-raises small, next 2 people fold, Genius calls, I re-raise 3 times BB again, BB folds, Genius calls again....(I know genius did not have anything because he only raises pre-flop if he has a large hand otherwise he tries to draw out with what he thinks is a solid hand, he was at my table earlier)

Flop comes Q/2/6 (Trip Q's for me) I go all in (knowing he can't have me beat) he calls (are you kidding me)...
He sees my QQ and shows his J9 offsuit and says "You got me, I did not think you had a high pair"....WHAT!!!!

Turn card 8...River card 10...Thanks for playing tonight

I keep my composure I want to strangle him but I shake his hand and leave...Pissed ........

I wish it was play money I would not be so pissed..........

Wilheim, It was a legit tourney had 65 people, somehow this guy made it this far...

From what I saw and was told he was catching cards all day long...Trips, two pairs, flushes, higher kickers...Every break went his way...Don't know how he finished because I was to pissed to watch.....

The other people at the final table were pretty good players with 2 being very good....No calling just to call just this guy stunk and kept catching cards...I was not the only one bul **** about this either....

Sorry Fishhead I won't post anymore about cards...

I was just seeing if I made a mistake playing the hand...I have only been playing a short time and have put much into trying to learn...

Was seeing if others here who have much more experience than I in NL tournaments could see if I made a mistake or could have played different...

Just looking for some knowledge on it that's all

DId not mean to bother the board with a bad beat story.....

Well, that looks like a really bad beat because the "hero" flopped quad aces but in reality its just some moron drawing on the turn to a single card out. Happens every hour...somewhere.

If it weren't for these people some badbeat jackpots would never be won.

In any (large) no limit field, whomever winds up winning has a good chance to be described as "catching cards all night" or "caught every break". Chances are if you played more NL tourneys with this guy you would beat him 9 out of 10 times but thats the way tonight went. The best players give themselves the best chances to win, but even they need to catch cards once in a while. sorry about your tough loss.

I like to think I have won as many hands, supplying bad beats to others, as I have lost.

T Hawk, it looks as though no one has actually answered your question. I have only played poker tourneys online. I have been playing seriously for 2 years (which i know is not very long to most people). IMHO I think you should have raised 5 or 6 times the BB in this situation, BUT from what you wrote the "genius" may have very well called that bet also since he called your all in after the flop. The only way to look at this is you went all in with a dominate hand but lost. One thing you didn't mention was; how many chips did u have, how many did "genius" have and how many were in the pot before you went all in? Pot size and bet size could have had a big impact on his decision to call. Keep getting your chips in with the best hand and you will do ok in the long run.

One thing I find "funny"(not what happened to you, but the actual results) about this is that it was a "live" tourney, because the hand you desribed is one that people really cry about the the game being rigged when playing online.
