Did anyone else's Sports Pager go blank?

Got it off ebay last year and was supposed to be good for life. I am not sure if I can get a hold of the guy I bought it from. Anyone have any suggestions?

there was another thread Mr Teaser ..someone posted they changed the way it is transmitted so some may not work anymore...I had the same problem with the one I got off ebay about 3 yrs ago it stopped after 6 mos

Did you buy yours from the guy in Fla or Texas?

How can some of them still work and others don't?

This blows. I refuse to pay $200-350 a year for it.

Mine also stopped working yesterday. Had mine for over 5 yrs...what a bummer.Loved the thing for Football. I talked to a guy that runs a pager shop and he said its just a matter of time before they have the band that they are broadcasting to so that they can clone it.

I have a pocket PC from T-mobile and can surf the web on a Internet Explorer browser and get updates from most sites...just like if you were at your PC....not bad.

I have a subscription to Sports Now and my pager shut off too, so I am not really sure what is going on with the pager.

I got mine from the guy in Texas. I can't remeber what # I won the bid under so I can't email him.

Hmm interesting. If you check the guys feedback you can see he is a fairly new seller and he sold an old unit a week ago. I just wonder how long these new ones will last.

The cool thing about the new pager is that we can change our signal via satellite on a weekly basis, much like DSS used to do with their old HU cards...

I understand you must protect your product, but I can't believe the Sports Now group would pick this Bravo 800 over the CP-1250. The Bravo 800 sucks when compared to this pager. I'd even go as far as saying the old Advisor was a better pager than the Bravo 800.

And FWIW, DirecTV DID not change their signal. They changed their encryption method. The signal is always constant.

I wouldn't mind paying $40+ per month IF....

the feed could give bettor/faster up to date injury reports as they happen..for example a key player NISL or VDF,last minute lineup changes.

The feed would get rid of some of the lines from the seldom used vegas books and replace them with more good offshore lines and update more frequently.

All this information is out there on the net for free but when your not near a PC it sure would be nice to have a top of the line sports feed pager with good current information.

Now that would be worth paying for.

FWIW, I think Sportsnow deserves the chance to block out freeloaders, their content is pretty good and adds value. The original pagers sold on Ebay just used the weak ESPN branded product. That was a service that deserved to be a pay once deal. As it is I am sure the pagers won't be all that popular for long. Cell phones are getting better and with the newer data plans and phones that can access all of the internet, the days of paying good money monthly for a sports pager are numbered.

IT HASNT BEEN over 24 hours yet mine stopped at 4-2 oakland over the sox yesterday afternoon. I've had a few minor outages from time to time give them a shot here guys.
