Well Joey C, you brag so much about how great Diamond Sportsbook is........screw you & them!!!!!!!!!

Around 5pm this afternoon they said that they are CLOSING and fired 99% of the employess. On top of that they screwed us all out of severence pay by forcing everyone to sign a paper agreeing to 2 weeks and 2 days pay that we already earned and only give apay and pro-rated aginaldo.

All they said was everything was moving to CRIS - which means a sell out or a take over.

You now have absolutely NO CREDIABILITY Joey, if anyone ever believes anything you have to say about anything, they deserve getting screwed too. You are either one of the two owners of DSI or a paid shill - either way they will screw you into the ground when you die!!!!!

IF ANY OF YOU HAVE ANY MONEY WITH DSI - I wish you luck collecting it!

Truth:

I'm very sorry to hear you've lost your job.

I have said over and over again, that DSI is not going out of business, and their customers money is safe. I say the same thing again.

I don't actually know what they are doing, BUT if they are consolidating their customer base at CRIS, as you seem to suggest, then their business will be more efficient.

Unfortunately, job eliminations are the natural by-product of efficiency efforts.

While it may not be comforting to you, players here should be comforted in knowing they will be serviced and paid no matter who answers DSI's phones.

Yea right Joey, as a paid shill, I guess that's all easy for you to say.

If DSI is so great, why did they screw us all our of thousands of dollars that they would have had to pay if they are solven?

If we didn't sign, then they wouldn't have paid us a dime....not even our 2 weeks paid that was due today.

And the customers that haven't been paid probably don't read this column - so they don't post and you just assume that DSI is on the up and up.
Too bad you don't know all the facts or is just that you won't admit it?

Truth:

I offered to put up 5 dimes to Shrinks favorite charity, if DSI stiffs any customers.

That offer is still on the table.

I don't know what is or isn't their deal with CRIS, and I don't frankly care.

Companies make strategic moves all the time to be more cost efficient. Jobs are lost, and I'm sorry you lost yours especially during bases because finding another one there at this time of the year won't be easy.

And no, I'm not an owner or paid shill for DSI.

Truth I know where you are coming from but that is just SOP. None of the sports books follow the local labor laws. Of course they don't pay you $1 per hour either like many of the local companies do.

If they did follow the local labor laws you wouldn't be entitled to your job anyways. Your a foreignor without proper working papers.

Take the green they gave you, have an Imperial, goto New Fantasy if you have to.

You've got about 3 months left of dead time. I'm sure you will be able to pick something up in Aug.

Diamond STOLE money, be it from their employees or from the players they are still not paying their debts. In Costa Rica we have severance pay when somebody is fired. In the States there is welfare, in Canada there is Unemployment Insurance. All three serve the same purpose. They are a systemic way of social security that tries to guarantee that when somebody is fired they have an oportunity to get back on their feet. Be it for re-training or just to hold on until a decent offer comes by.

Screwing over your own people....

great business.

Well diamonds website is still up and operational. So deos this mean they are still in business. And if they did sell out to CRIS or merge with CRIS doesn't that mean that players post up money is safe.

Marc:

You've made a very good point. DSI is still operational, the players money will be safe, no matter how its paid, or by whom it paid, which is exactly what I've said all along.

Anybody who would do any business outside of a payout request right now with DSI, would be a damn fool! If CRIS is taking them over then wait until the transition is over then reup, sign up or make a deposit!

Shrink is supposed to talk to their main man today.

Let's wait and see what comes out of their conversation.

There is too much speculation and second guessing going on now.

I still maintain, that no matter what, players $$ will be 100% here.

I understand we should wait and see what is said Joey but why in the hell should someone be encouraged to make a deposit or reup today with all this uncertainty right now? Honestly would you if you didn't know these guys so well?

I'm not encouraging anyone to do anything, with DSI or with any other store.

Since all this crap started, and others were crying the ship is sinking, run for the hills while you can, I've maintained a consistant position being no matter what, the players money would be safe.

Nothing more .. nothing less. IN the end, that's what really counts first and foremost.

SuperWimp, the social security when you are working for a book is that they pay you at least 400% of what you would make anywhere else in CR. So stash that money away instead of wasting it.

Everyone knows the deal going in. Did you see them paying 100% of the caja? If you want severance pay and 100% of the caja then work somewhere else and make much less.

There are plenty of college graduates making $250 per month in CR. They get paid in colones so that actually drops month after month. Many locals are making $250 per week working for the books. That is in dollars so you are actually getting a raise compared to your local peers week after week. You are making 4 times as much as your peers are.

There is your security. Put 75% of your pay in the bank.

I don't hear anyone complaining about the low salaries of their peers and helping them out month after month.

Gringo:

Why confuse em with facts.. These guys lost their jobs, and as most of us would be, are very upset, and are venting here.

You've been in CR for a long time now, so you know what's up. I wonder how much Intel is paying their CR engineers in CR these days, compared to what US based engineers make?

Its always sad when people loose their job but this is not going to be the first time it happens nor the last one. And this applies to any field of activity.

Gringo has highlighted a good point there : most if not all people working for books are much better paid than their collegues working for local business.

With all respect for disgruntled employees what matters most is that the book will be safe, and Joey C and Shrink have confirmed that.

I just thought about this and more the reason to run, why isn't DSI in here explaining what's going on instead of their good friend Joey C who doesn't have any interest in the company but is willing to take a large bet on their behalf?! Man this situation stinks like a 2 week old tuna!
