Probably a dumb question....but I'll ask anyway. Since there are so many choices when buying a computer, is there one (or one thing) to look for when buying one for dial up internet service?

I don't believe so, computers nowwa days are built for the internet and connection speed.

I take it a broadband connection is not an option for you? If you do, connect via Ethernet, it's a tad bit faster then connecting through your USB..

Thanks #1,
I guess it's not an option, (if it requires drilling a hole in the wall). I'm a renter.
I do have cable television, but where the cable connection is located is not enough space for me to put my computer desk, even if Cox could use the same hole.

all you need to do is get a ethernet patch cable to reach from where your cable comes in to your home. patch cables come is all kinds of lengths. go and get a high speed connection from Cox. have the dude install it for you. get a cat5e patch cable from any computer store.
