Never like trading quality for quantity. Say what you will abiout Davis, but he is better than those 3 players, by far. Okafur will be a nice backup carerr, Prince, who knows, but upside is not great (once everuone figured out he could only drive 1 direction), atkins is a decent enough backup for wagner/james in the backcourt, but there will not be many minutes available.

I'd do it as detroit, but not as cleveland

why would detroit want to break up a team that is in great shape and is just waiting for the second pick on the draft?
If you ask me, they are on a position where they can just sit back and wait what other teams have to offer, even on draft day.
Cleveland needs to accomodate his team to Lebron, beacause they have to build around him even if it means a whole new team, Davis is the obvious first victim, he's taking too many of the shots Lebron is going to take.
If you ask me, Detroit is giving away too much, and wont get what they expect, because they are looking for someone to take the important shots, but they would be getting someone who takes ALL the shots, hell, he even shoots at his own basket for a triple double LAME

I agree, Davis is a scorer which is what the Pistons need. Maybe they can average over 65 poits next year.

Slim, I agree it's a great line up, but what about someone coming from the bench, Billups proved he can score, and both the rookies proved they can play, what's wrong with sitting with what they have and get something else on the draft? And don't forget free agency, lots of big names out there they can snatch, although i haven't checked their cap status.
Don't forget Cliffy is getting old

slim.. nice line-up minus robinson... add Billups instead and you got the real deal..

as far as the trade goes, it basically is prince for davis...

look atkins is a back-up period, and okafur just lost alot of minutes with DARKO coming in... I see detroit dealing 3 backups for the player they need.. great deal, lets hope the pistons make it happen...

This is what they should have done and taken Carmelo. It would have worked perfect, but since they want to pick this Darko guy this trade is not bad either. They are getting the big guy they want (Darko) along with a scorer (Davis), which is what they need the most.

Ricky Davis is nothing but a selfish hotdog who shoots at his own basket to try to pad his stats. He is an idiot too. In one game I recall Davis getting a defensive rebound with 3½ sec. left in the game, down one, he looked at his coach as if to say, "should I call TO"?, then he starts to dribble and ends up firing a half court shot that missed, game over. I seriously doubt Detroit would make that trade.

Geez noone is allowed to make mistakes when they are young?? I knew people were gonna bring up the triple double thing. GET OVER IT! This kid is a tremendous talent and should not be overlooked. Look at Webber's timeout call in the NCAA or Kobes Airballs against the Jazz. People do stupid things when they are young...that does not mean they cant play the game extremely well. Wether the trade is real or not Ricky Davis is going to be a very good player in this league.

He does this every single game right? Give it a rest, he said himself that it was a dumb thing to do.

Prince stays, wins a championship in '04
Atkins traded next year, gets 'Sheed, helps win the title
Darko > Okafur? Okafur had some really good seasons in Detroit.

HUH? Okafor didn't come into the league until '04-05 and never played for Detroit. How was he in this trade and nobody pointed that out? He was never on the Pistons!

meant Okur, accidentally used Okafur because Kodiak had mistakeny used it as well. Should have been pretty obvious I meant Okur given Okafor has never played for Detroit, let alone was in the league at this time if I remember correctly.

Ok well I've got nothing to add besides the fact if the Pistons somehow got Melo instead of Darko in that draft, Melo's career would be remembered a lot differently rght now. Probably wins 2 rings with Detroit (maybe more, his strength was their weakness) after winning 1 in college and his legacy would be way better than what it will be.
