The Start
I expect Danzig Candy and Laoban to gun it from the outside in an effort to get the lead. Nyquist will get out quick in an effort not to get boxed in. Gun Runner should get out and get to the rail from the 5 hole. They will be followed by Tom's Ready and Shagaf. Into the first turn it will be Danzig Candy, followed by Laoban and Nyquist. Gun Runner will be trying to rate in 4th. Tom's Ready, Shagaf and Mor Spirit will be just off of him. Exaggerator will be rating behind them with Whitmore and Mohayem. Mo Tom , Oscar Nom, Sudden and Majesto will be mid pack. At the back will be Trojan, Destin, Outwork, Brody's. Sam and Creator will be all the way back.

At the half, Nyquist has moved up along side Danzig Candy. Gunner Runner and Laoban just behind them. Followed by Shagaf and Tom's Ready. Exaggerator and Mor Spirit are running just off the pace, followed by Whitmore and Mohayem.
Entering the far turn, Nyquist has made the lead. Followed by Gun Runner . Danzig Candy and Laoban are starting to fade. Exagerator, Mor Spirit and Shagaf are right there. From the back of the pack, Creator and My Man Sam are starting to move along with Brody's Cause.

Top of the stretch

Nyquist still has the lead but is being pressed by Gun Runner. Exaggerator and Mor Spirit just back of those 2. Creator, Sam and Brody have moved up into striking distance. Majesto and Destin are moving but still far back.

Mid Stretch- Nyquist is starting to labor. Gun Runner gets a head in front. Exaggerator and Mor Spirit a half back. My Man Sam and Creator are closing quickly. Destin and Majesto gaining ground but running out of room.

on other side Destin with 2 month layoff too much to expect something here

agree. can win on best day only and vs weak field that can happen. not using at all

Same. Mor Spirit got me a bit nervous as well. Noise being made about Gun Runner........only thing I feel sure of is a good chance for quite a great competitive race here. Thanks for the Thread :toast:

Great analysis and race flow ; BUT Do you realize Laoban is "not " in the race......and will this impact you race flow???

Outwork and Nyquist will run with Danzing Candy early tho.....!

yes, I do now. May slow the early fractions up. Only expected him to be a factor early. We shall see. Think it may hurt the deep closers a little.

Yeah I believe Danzig's Candy has no choice but to go early. Nyquist will be up front as will Gun Runner. Toms Runner can also show some early speed. I hope you are right about Outwork going early also. Really think Outwork is going to be a special horse later in the year.

Same here with Mohaymen. A little bit of an off track can really throw off some horses. He came back with a nice bullet work after the Florida Derby clunker. Something tells me he's not going to throw in another 80 Beyer. I'm just not sure of his class after winning a bunch of short field Grade 2's. I like that he's only been raced 6 times. I'm not crazy about horses that have 9 or 10+ races under their belts. Seems like those kinds of horses never win the Derby.
