Doesn't this first turn at Pimlico come up quicker than it dies at Churchill or Belmont? It's always seemed to me that Pimlico has a quick first turn but a long down the stretch run.
Belmont is a bigger track but Pimlico is exactly(or damn close) as Churchill except for Pimlico is flatter and doesn't have the banking.

Going to have too be a horse that didn`t run in the Preakness and Derby to challenge this horse.

He crushed this field.....Not 1 horse from this race will be entered in the Belmont...No way.

He destroyed the Derby field also......The 2 closest contenders in the Derby were Dortmund and Firing Line.....And he outclassed both horses today.

Nobody can beat this horse.

Since Baffert also trains the 2 horse do you think there is any chance that he worked out some kind of deal with the jockey and owner of the 2 horse to basically play defense for AP?

It basically looked like the 2 horse pretty much jumped out to push the 3 horse so so AP would not get squeezed .

Basically taking one for the team kind of deal.

Once the 2 horse cleared out the rest it was smooth sailing for AP. almost wire to wire except for the first 75 feet.

Just like we said, a wire to wire job, only way he could have won from post #1......the other horses got closer coming around the far turn & its like he had another gear.

Firing Line finished 7th by 48 lengths I believe......talk about bouncing! I figured Dortmund would bounce, but didn't expect Firing Line to ease up.

AP is a class of his own........now he's bucking history. Frosted IMO is the only horse that can beat him, that's if AP gets beat in 3 weeks.

Baffert stated before AP ever ran a race last year that he was the best horse he's ever trained......coming from Baffert, that's huge!

He never said those words about Point Given.......

He looked solid........I don`t think Frosted can beat him.....He couldn`t do it in the Derby......Frosted finished behind Dortmund and Firing Line in the Derby.....And we know what happened to those 2 horses today.

We`ll see......AP for the most part breezed today more like a workout......He was really never put under pressure.....So with that said,he should have plenty of run for the Belmont.

gotta remember there wasn't that much competition for AP today, Belmont with well rested horses is a totally different ballgame

That`s what you call a rocking chair race...............That was just a workout after posting 1:11 for 6 furlongs he just eased home in 1:58. Thanks Victor no whip today just an easy tap. Bring on the Belmont and the other bums with no balls. American Pharoah flashback of the rebel stakes in march. All weather horse.
