On a related note regarding Mickey Rivers and a place like Saratoga, I recall George Steinbrenner saying that he had to trade Mickey Rivers for his own good and he had to trade him to a place that didn't have a horse track.

I get a kick every time I see Oil Can's name.

About 15 years ago Oil Can was signed by our Independent Minor League Team here in Sioux City. Well the first night The Can was in town he was thrown in jail for wielding a loaded gun in the parking lot of a local night club. Not really the smartest thug in the world.

I've got to give the can some credit. The guy was a mediocre pitcher, he's been out of the game for 20 years or so, yet every year or so it seems he's able to get his name in the mainstream media. Doing so while staying out of prison (as far as I know) is pretty impressive if you ask me. He should find work as a publicist.
