And so you're a Republican? People who choose darker spirits, such as whiskey, are more likely to vote Republican, a new consumer data survey says

Democratic President Harry Truman reportedly enjoyed drinking bourbon, which is supposedly a Republican beverage.

The same can be said Democratic former President Lyndon Johnson, who enjoyed drinking a Cutty Sark scotch and soda on his ranch in Texas.

Republican former presidents, too, didn't totally stick with the analysis.

Former President Gerald Ford enjoyed a gin and tonic, while former President George H.W. Bush drank vodka martinis – both drinks on the Democratic side of the spectrum.

What your favorite drink says about your politics: Democratic drinkers are more likely to sip Absolut and Grey Goose vodkas, while Republican tipplers are more likely to savor Jim Beam, Canadian Club and Crown Royal, according to consumer data supplied by GFK MRI

Too bad there is not an age variable associated with this. Because I definitely would get Grey Goose almost every week and Patron on weekends or for parties. But as I got older, my taste became more geared towards scotch and darker alcohols. Although I still think Vodka is the best drink to get drunk and not feel bad the next day.

as you get older, you're morphing into a Republican. Wisdom and experience takes many different forms, but I'm surprised it even changes your preference for alcoholic beverages

single malt scotch, Maker's Mark and even my choice in vodka, Ketal One, are all republican drinks. Damn that's funny

I'm pretty sure Colt 45 should be included in the high turnout democratic voter demographics

Not calling u an idiot - though u r for various other reasons - many people have this ill conceived notion of what causes a hangover - too much of any alcohol is what causes a hangover - drink 15 beers, 15 shots of whatever, 15 wines, etc. and chances are u r going to be hungover - the only exception is red wine and some people - red wine contains sulfites which can cause some people to get bad headaches regardless of over consumption

I guess I drink like a Democrat, as I much prefer vodka and rum over darker spirits....

You can say whatever you want, I guarantee you... I feel much worse the next morning after drinking whiskey than vodka.
