Zell Miller, Saying Dems Aid the Enemy, Endorses Bush

Complaining that the antiwar rhetoric used by some of the Democratic presidential candidates is putting the lives of American soldiers at risk, retiring Sen. Zell Miller, D-Ga, announced Wednesday night that he was backing President Bush for reelection.

Asked about the harsh attacks directed at the Bush White House over the Iraq war, Miller told Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity, "It makes me ashamed. It's a disgrace for anyone to talk about -- talk like that in a time of war."

Miller then blasted his fellow Dems, saying, "Using this war for political advantage can only give hope to our enemies. And when you do that, that's going to cost lives."

The Georgia Democrat added that while he doesn't question their patriotism, "I certainly question their judgment."

"You know, if some of these folks have been living back to that April night in 1775 when Paul Revere came riding through, saying, 'The British are coming, British are coming' - if Howard Dean was living back then he would have yelled out the window, 'Shut up I'm trying to get some sleep in here.'

"It's a disgrace," Miller reiterated, before issuing his endorsement for President Bush.

"I've given this a lot of thought. I think that George Bush is the right man in the right place at the right time," he told Hannity.

The lifelong Democrat explained, "The way I see it is, that these next five years are going to be crucial in determining kind of world my grandchildren and great- grandchildren live in.

"And I don't entrust that to any of these folks that are running out there on the Democratic side."

Miller said that Bush "reminded me somewhat of Churchill. I think he's got some Churchill in him. He understands the history of freedom. He knows where it came from and he's not afraid to take a side.

"That's the kind of man I want in there as commander-in-chief," he added.

That's always been standard reactionary response when somebody criticizes war - "you're aiding the enemy". Yawn.

Fact is the Iraqi war was completely unnecessary and does nothing in war on terror. Al Qaeda is alive and well and they were and still are our direct threat, not Iraq. Even Condoleeza Rice was quoted in 2000 as saying Iraq poses no direct threat to the USA.

We will continue to pay in lost lives of soldiers for the next few years and the 87 billion dollar price tag that is pushing already record deficits to new highs, we will be paying that, too.

What a mess Bush and all the chickenhawks like Wolfowitz got us in. But that's what happens when your only qualification for the job is taking the budget surplus of Texas and turning it into record deficits and your only military experience is defending the skies of Texas against the Vietnamese before going AWOL for over a year.

The funny part of this is where they refer to Zell Miller as a Democrat. He belongs in our party about as much as Jeffords belonged in theirs.

What I get the biggest kick out of the democratic party claims to be the working mans party...Yet if you look where the working man states are (in the south and midwest) they don't even bother to campaign because they will lose their ass...what a fxckin joke....Just to prove a point even Mass. and California now have republican goveners....Poor,Poor Hillary will get her clock cleand by Guilliani in NY next time around.

I've think the dems are making each other look silly for a number of reasons ...

1. TOO MANY of them. Nobody wants to kick the hopeless 3 off (Kucinich, Braun & Sharpton) because they'd the one's that "limited democracy" and kicked the only "black" candidates and the only "woman" candidate out. It's "not politically correct".

2. This strategy of "trash" each other, but say they're all better than Bush. Either they're qualified or they're not. I can't stand when politicians try to have it both ways.

3. Many of them are hypocryites. Aside from Dean, Sharpton, Braun & Kucinich these guys are against the way Bush handles the war, but for it. How else do you expect this war to be handled? It is what it is. Either you are for it, or against it NOT "I'm patriotic, but I could do it better". Whatever.

I wish there was a valid 3rd Party, or even a shot for McCain to win this next election. I'm not looking forward to any of these "potential" administations. (although, Clark or Gephardt would probably be the most sincere).

Lander, the problem is that they all have to appeal to the left wing of the democrat party for the primarys,because they get their money from special interest and they are the ones who vote in Primarys.In a national election they will get crushed because they have zero appeal to the main stream independent voter...Clinton had appeal to the independent and so did Reagan...The canidates bash Bush and have no solutions of their own.Their basic message is vote for me I'm not George Bush.

Obviously you would think Clark is sincere. He's flipped his opinion so many times nobody has a clue what he actually believes. Theres a reason Clinton supports him.
