Thursday
Buffalo -3 UTEP - Really like the matchup here, especially with UTEP going cross-country. Buffalo's an underrated team that has some good players.

Wake Forest -12.5 Baylor - Baylor is well Baylor, and Wake Forest is a fantastic team. Don't like laying this many points on the road, but I'm gambling on it

Stanford +3 Oregon St. - Don't sleep on a good Stanford DL/OL + the best back NO one has heard of, Toby Gerhart. Hopefully he'll be healthy this year, but should put up good number against a retooled Oregon St. front 7.

NC State +13 South Carolina - Call this more of a hunch than a cap, I think NC State is a team on the rise with Tom O'Brien. I like the QB choice they made, and do have some quality RBs. South Carolina's QBs are still a mess so I see this one being more of a close game control game that I'll gladly take the points in.

Friday
Rice -3.5 SMU - Say what you want about Rice, they still have a stellar offense. SMU has to be in flux without Willis. Love the home team.

Temple -7 Army - Temple is another bottom cellar on the rise and Army is abysmal this year. Tough to lay 7 points; after all it is Temple, but DiMechele being back is a huge difference.

Saturday
Utah +3.5 Michigan - Had this game circled for awhile becuase I think the world of Utah. Very balanced team with now a great 1-2 punch at RB and a great QB in Brian Johnson. Michigan has a good defense (not great) but it's hard for me to believe they have adapted to RRod's system, I see a jumbled offense not producing much.

Ole Miss -7.5 Memphis - Now that Ole Miss has a QB in Jevan Sneed watch out, they may win a few games they aren't supposed to. Only giving single digits to a club like Memphis as a home opener almost seems too easy. Ole Miss has good WR and a good defense. They should roll easy.

Wyoming -10 Ohio - Everyone has said their opinion enough out this game, it's a popular one.

Clemson -5 alabama - Never was a fan much of Alabama last year and JPW will stagnate with a new corps of WR. I don't care how good Julio Jones is, he is still a freshman in his first game.

Oklahoma St -7 Washington St - I have to imagine the Cowboys have a better Defense this year with the influx of JC talent, althought it never seems to work out that way. Regardless, their offense should mantain it's impressive explosiveness. Washington St. is the worst team in the Pac-10. Their defense is horrid which will play right into Oklahoma St. They will never stop them. This could be a good over play if Washington St was in such transition on offense. New system, and even with a GREAT QB in Alex Brink last year they never did much. Oklahoma St. easy

Monday
Fresno St. +6 Rutgers - Fresno and Utah are the best Non-BCS teams, and they are very good. Brandsteer and Matthews is an awesome combo for Fresno, and we'll see how good Teel is for Rutgers without the major benefit of Ray Rice. I'm frankly not optimistc on Rutgers. Pat Hill lives for this type of game and they finally have both sides of the ball ready this year for the first time since they almost knocked off USC.

Tennessee -7 UCLA - I've been waiting for this game for at least 6 months. I pledged no matter what the line I'd bet it. I've made this the biggest bet of my life. Nothing is a guarantee but I hope this one works out. Long writeup I did here

Their OL is just so bad, think Notre Dame last year bad. This will be a repeat of GTech/Notre Dame last year in a LOT of ways. There's a lot of comparisons. Add to that Kevin Craft? Some people are excited because he was the #1 JC player last year, but JC ratings don't translate as well as people think. This guy throws tons of picks and is very innacurate so far in UCLA camp. The impressive Tennessee secondary should thrive

I have 5 units on Tennessee. I'm trying to hold back on completely saying fuck it to money management and droping more on them.

Thanks for the write-up. I love Tenn as well, but does the 2 suspensions on the starters change anything?

No, the CB suspension was known for awhile and was not practicing with the first team all summer. The DT is not something I'm really concerned about. Still like Tenn

That's how I feel too, but you always have to consider the crazy things that can happen. Freak turnovers, personal fouls, injuries, tons of shit can go wrong on the most obvious games.

If UCLA wins this one the books are gonna cash big from this forum though

Every message board I've read, people are pouncing on Tenn. This is one of those games where I feel like LV has set a bad line, or they're taking a stance on UCLA and setting a "sucker" line.

My only possible concern is that UCLA's D might be better than expected and hold UT to 17 point or so. Brian Price & Brigham Harwell are good at the DL. The LBs are pretty solid w/ Carter @ MLB. The secondary's one of the 10 best in the country.

But I've heard that Tenn's OL is one of the best in the country and if so, it should grind out the UCLA's front 7. Esp considering UCLA's offense will have too many 3 and outs.

You're Betting Into Some Bad Lines

i.e. Temple 6/6-, Rice 3, Utes 4-, OSU 6, all available for quite a while. This can kill you in the long run. You snooze you lose.

As a big USC fan I'm pretty familiar with UCLA. Their DTs are awesome, good playmakers. Their DEs aren't very good, and are undersized. Their LBs are just alright, no one really proven besides Reggie Carter. Their secondary is NOT one of the best 10 in the country, maybe last year, but they only have 1 starter back, and lost what I considered the lifeblood of that secondary Chris Horton. UCLA is trying out true freshman at some positions, and while they may be 4-star talented guys, that's always a bad sign if you are trying to work a true freshman with just fall camp under his belt into the starting lineup

 :h5:

Any chance of NC St. covering just went down the drain IMO. They went 5-7 last year, return only 10 starters, and gave up an average of 28.3 ppg. This could be a route.

I have USC in a teaser, so hopefully we both can cover...BOL my man :toast:

I posted on another thread that I know a kid that starts at WR for USCe and they are feeling very confident about the game. I bet a little on the Cocks just off that.

Same goes for Bama. I talked to a good friend who is a senior on the Tide team this year and they really feel good about their chances against Clemson. FWIW

3-1 today, and thought I nailed all my analysis, especially Stanford and even North Carolina St. It was a ball control game with USCe's poor QB play until Russell Wilson got knocked out. So is the way of betting though, and I'll take 3-1 for opening night:aktion033
