I've had some fantastic times at the Rock. Most of the time playing cards with old friends while getting free drinks. The place has really changed over the years, but it never stopped me from going back. For me it evolved into a depressing cafeteria style whore house for depressing old people and dudes who flash big Italian watches. The talent got old and mean, the games got tight, and the place just got dated. It needs to go. In a way, Costa Rica has really become an ugly place for a single guy to live. I agree with Joe, you have to work for it at local venues, but Id stay out of all those spots except for San Pedro. Its not easy landing a Tica, but when it happens you might get lucky and have a wonderful life in CR. That didn't happen for me, but I have lots of friends who are happily married or great lying about it. Most of them spent little time at the Rock.
