Before that, he checked in fourth at this level after a few decent efforts against age-restricted claimers. But the telling stat is his 1-for-15 record, with 7 placings—so he’s a bit of a nibbler. On the positive side, he’s making his first start for trainer Peter Miller, so if there’s any chance of him finally getting over the hump, today would be the day. I also think he’ll get a good trip, sitting off the pace in the second flight, waiting to make his move turning for home.

#6 CASINO FEVER looks live TODAY!!! The homebred is a younger half-sister to a multiple stakes winner here at Del Mar this summer. Her sire gets an above-average share of juvenile debut winners. #4 CLASSIC GENT usually gives it a good try when he is not in too tough. He was the beaten favorite when dropping off a win in his most recent out but returns to a distance over which he is two-for-two for MILLER stable. He will be adding blinkers this time.

Tough to explain the failure last time as the 3-5 favorite. Jockey Alonso Quinonez must know this filly wants to be up on the pace, unlike last time. Trainer Kenny Black is 26% with sprinters and i like the outside post
