Years ago I read about this in a gambling book.
It says to fade a team off a loss that appeared to be a win. The explanation was that teams suffer an emotional letdown after a devestating loss and often they are still reeling going into the next game. I've seen it work in many sports with varying degrees of success.

I think this applies to the Rockets tonight. The game on Sun was all but over with Rockets up 4 with the ball in the last minute of OT. They managed not only to lose, but also blew the cover.

But since picking the Lakers goes against my capping methods, I will take a pass here.

Any and all comments are welcome.

I dont like Houston in this spot.

LA has playoff experience, Hou does not.

Only bad things can happen when you dont close out a series at ANY possible time, and a good coach will emphasize this. I think Malone and Payton add a sense of urgency to the Lakers at present, they dont have many other chances after this year. Does that mean LA covers? No, but IMO it does add value OUTSIDE the numbers to LA as a side. I think if Hou gets behind they may be in trouble in the 2nd half. I think LA wins by 7 or more 56% of the time tonight. In the back of my mind I'm thinking LA covers the 2nd half, just a hunch.

It's just hard for me to make a strong case either way. It's a total coin flip, IMO.

I don't think so. Even though Dallas led most of the way, you never got that feeling that it was over.
That being said, I think the Kings are the right side.
