Doesn't matter. Positive expectation or not, you don't gamble 300K. You take the fucking deal.
Disagree if the other case is a 50 dollar one I think you have to take one more case. I don't like the idea of pissing away 33 grand. Now, I cannot fault someone for playing it safe, but you cannot say 100 percent to take the fucking deal. That is just not solid game theory in any way shape or form.
no reason not to take a sure 300k and invest it. only way to take the gamble like everybody here has already stated is if you already have a few million in the bank.
he will regret that move for the rest of his life. Not to many times in life an average person has a chance of making 300k all at once.
You have to factor in the future value of the money. It's pure gambling when the bet is so big. Even if you're giving up 50K, the possibility of getting nothing is great. The future invested value of 300K is enormous. It's millions of dollars and a guaranteed secure retirement. But I guess if someone's willing to push so much on something like this, they probably would be spending it instead of investing it. I understand the math behind what you're saying, but in this game, you have to ignore the math, as long as the offer is somewhat reasonable. You have to take your profit too soon. 300K is way more than the expected value of your take home when you started the game. Take the money and make it grow on your own over a lifetime, instead of an all-in gamble in the moment. Even if that gamble is +EV.Disagree if the other case is a 50 dollar one I think you have to take one more case. I don't like the idea of pissing away 33 grand. Now, I cannot fault someone for playing it safe, but you cannot say 100 percent to take the fucking deal. That is just not solid game theory in any way shape or form.
what i dont understand is why people actually watch this show...
it took me about 45 seconds to figure out it was the dumbest game show ever invented.

Typical move. $300K buys his family some security for the rest of their lives.
Instead he gambles it away.
These idiot contentants on this show are what make people watch ... ohh ya that and the hot ladies!
