There are rules that you have to stick to if you seriously consider to gamble. The main rule, which became a classic, is: “Bet with your head and not over it”. But let´s leave the moral and physiological reasons behind and focus on what you should and should not do once you decided to gamble in a casino. We will try to cover the major games such as: Black jack, Craps, Roulette and Baccarat.
The most important rule is money management. Before you start gambling, you have to decide how much money you want to risk (win or lose). Concider a sum that cannot hurt you - do not go and mortgage your house- that is not a joke, you have to know your limits. There is no such thing as after loosing heavily to say- well, my bad luck is over now, I´ll get even or win. If you decided that your limit is $1000 and you lost it(!), get up! There is always a next time.
Whatever game you are playing, always stick to the basic rouls. Do not bet “suckers bets”, most games have them. At Craps, for example, you have the horn bet – 6:6 and 1:1 which payout 30 to1, 6:5 and 2:1 which payout 15 to 1. There are also the hard numbers: 2:2(4), 3:3(6) 4:4 (8), 5:5(10), they payout 7:1 and 9:1 very tempting bet, beware – any number that you bet on the hard way will automatically lose if it comes any other way or if you throw the 7, not like the “horn bet” which is a one throw deal. The hard numbers will stay on the table till you throw the number the hard way - you win - or you throw the easy way (for example 6=4:2, 10=6:4) and a 7 - you lose.
This applies also to other games, high payout equals high risk equals on the long run certain loss. Play the odds, don´t do fancy moves (high risk) and you will have a good chance to win. At all casino games the house has only a very slim advantage or at some games a slight disadvantage (black jack), and if you play by the rules you have a pretty good chance to win. Good luck!
