There was a small snow shower tonight in DC and the roads are literally gridlocked. I drove in from Norfolk and it took me 2+ hours longer than usual....and I was lucky. My wife is still stuck on 66 and has been in her car for 5 hours (usually takes her around 45 minutes in rush hour to get home).

There's supposed to be up to 2 feet of snow on Friday & Saturday....this place is going to be a total Charlie Foxtrot!

I'm so glad I moved out of there. Though given how PA is run, not necessarily thrilled with this place.

Took 3 hours to get home last night. Left Tysons at 8:30 or so and ended up getting home at 11:30. Had to park my car on a side road about a 5 minute or so drive from my house and walk which took about 30 minutes. Saw 50 + cars just stuck in the ice or spinning out. I just gave up and figured I would get my car in the morning once the ice melted and roads got treated. Dont plan on leaving the house all weekend with the 2 feet of snow on its way

Why not take the rail? I have friends who bitch about the traffic and go from Tysons Corner to DC......easier to rail it anytime.

http://www.wunderground.com/news/winter-storm-jonas-mid-atlantic-impacts

As Winter Storm Jonas prepares to unleash its fury on the East Coast, several mid-Atlantic officials have activated emergency operations to prepare for the system's snow, ice and wind.

Washington D.C. and Baltimore are now under blizzard warnings, and the region can expect the following impacts from Jonas:

At least 1 foot of snow across much of West Virginia and Virginia, except along the coast, starting Thursday night.

Upwards of 2 feet of snow in Washington D.C. and western Maryland starting Friday. Smaller accumulations in eastern Maryland, though much of the state is expected to receive at least a foot of snow.

As much as a quarter-inch of ice for southwestern West Virginia, including Charleston, ending Saturday.

Well the metro sucks and is always running late/delayed/some random other problem/way over priced. I also live outside of DC in maryland and its about an hour metro ride compared to 30 minutes in the morning driving and usually an hour driving home. I would much rather be in my car with a podcast/music than in a metro car with a bunch of people.

The problem yesterday was that the little snow was unexpected and it froze immediately since it was so cold.

Stay safe.

I have always had a decent experience on the metro but i only go from TC to DC usually, and as a tourist. Had a friend spend over 4 hours in traffic getting home.

I flew out to Jacksonville on Thursday. It's raining and cool here...but not 20+ inches of snow!

They're getting pounded in DC. My return flight is Sunday night, leaving jax at 7pm. I'm not sure if it will get cancelled or when the airport will open.
