He started losing it maybe 7-10 years ago. It has nothing to do with Jimmy Fallon. Letterman didn't have as much of an agenda as he does now (or he hid it better). Once he got popped for sexually assaulting his staff, he became totally irrelevant. It's almost like all of his writers quit.

with so many channels these days the talks show on the major networks are dull and imo dont have a chance like in the old days with limit number of channels, really dont know how Hall got back on tv, he was crap back in the day and even worst today.

The reason for him leaving is obviously CBS is scared that Jimmy Fallon's audience will keep growing. Most of Letterman's views are in their 50's.

Letterman hasn't been good for years. In fact he's been kind of a dick in the few episodes I've seen over the last year.

I don't watch unless I happen to be passing by the channel. It's just the same old shit over and over. Monologue, a few bits and then interviewing guests.

I saw a clip for Seth Meyer's show and he had some animal expert. Every single animal expert appearance is the same old shit going back to the days of Johnny Carson. They are all just doing the same old shit and it's boring.

Yup in this age networks are more concerned with youtube views and how many re-tweets something has. Fallon isn't bad. I was watching him and he has the same type of safe humor that appeals to the middle of the country.

He became too political

he embarrassed himself during the 2008 election and thereafter with his disgusting comments against the Palin daughter. Really showed no class. That turned me off and I don't think I watched him again. I did like many of his top 10 list over the years.
