(USATSI)</figcaption></figure>A Dallas sportscaster took to the airwaves on Thursday and thrashed the Cowboys for signing Greg Hardy, citing his alleged history of domestic violence. He's not alone, as the mayor of Dallas joined in bashing the 'Boys for their personnel move.
In an interview with reporters filmed by the Dallas Morning-News, Mayor Mike Rawlings called the signing a "shot in the gut."
“I'm a big Cowboys fan. I love them to death and I want them to beat the Eagles every time they play,” Rawlings said. “But at some point, being a sports fan gets trumped by being a father, husband, wanting to do what's right for women, so this is not a good thing. I don't think I'm going to be buying Hardy jerseys any time soon."

Rawlings also said he spoke with the Cowboys on Thursday morning to inquire about the Hardy signing and was reassured by the team that they did serious background checks on the former Panthers defensive end.
"It's something I heard about and I immediately called the Cowboys this morning and had a couple conversations with them," Rawlings said. "Because I wanted to hear their side. They told me the things they did, the things that are going on."
Despite the Hardy signing, the mayor doesn't plan on abandoning his favorite team.
"I'm still going to root for the Cowboys," Rawlings said. "I believe it's a great entertainment for this area and brings us all together."
