Aloha Gang....So far my this year I am 8-2 in the CWS...2-0 in my CWS--BIG GAME PLAYS, and 2-0 on my BIG GAME PLAYS--GOM in the bases this year....Today lets make it 3-0...LETS ROCK!

**BIG 5 UNIT CWS GAME OF THE MONTH PLAY ON:

South Carolina -110

-Ok Gang here we go with the final elimination game of the CWS....SC vs Cal St Fullerton....Both won one game a piece, and this is the rubber match, winner to meet #1 Texas in the CWS Championship Series....

In this one, since I have seen these two teams play several times, all I am going to do is reiterate why I feel that the Gamecocks have an advantage today over the Titans of Fullerton St...

The Gamecocks are the SEC Champs with a record of 54-6 and ranks 3rd in the Nation....The Titans come in to this game with a record of 44-22 and is seeded 4th....

The Gamecocks as everyone knows by now has a really potent Offense at the plate....In fact, this Gamecock team brings in to the CWS probably the best lineup in the entire CWS field....This Gamecock lineup sports a load of talent as 7 players on the rooster has been taken in the 1st to 12th rounds of this years MLB Draft...Amazing!

The Gamecocks Offense can stroke it long Big Time....The lead the Nation with the most HRs at 102, and also have 4 player in the lineup with at least 14 HR's and 50 RBI's....During the regular season, this Gamecock Offense averaged scoring 7 runs a game....So far in the tournament, the Gamecocks have scored a total of 35 runs in 4 games..Unreal!....The Titans, on the other hand, has scored just 11 runs in 3 games played....This is a difference favoring SC by 5.09 runs...WOW!

The Gamecocks today send their ACE to the hill in Matt Campbell...Eventhough Campbell lost in his last meeting vs this Titan squad, he is still probably the best starting pitcher in this CWS field, not to mention one of the best in the entire NCAA...This year Campbell was drafted in the 1st RD by the KC Royals, and that says a lot about this guys quality as an overall pitcher...

As for the Titans pitcher today....They send Junior left hander Scott Sarver to the hill...Sarver has not pitched since June 6 in a regional game vs Pepperdine, and this is not good news for the Titans....To start a game after this long of a lay off, you got to expect he will be a little rusty and that is not good at all vs this Hot hitting team in the Gamccocks....Below is both the starting pitchers stats...

SP--Matt Campbell (10-4 with an ERA of 2.88)
SP--Scott Sarver (2-2 with an ERA of 3.16)

*Other stats favoring SC today:

-Only 3 player in Cal St's lineup is hitting a combine .464...The rest of the lineup is ONLY averaging .149 combined.
-Fullerton vs ranked teams is 14-10..
-Fullerton's BP has not posted a win since April 18...
-Fullerton's stranded 27 runners in this years CWS, 15 being in scoring position....
-In Cal St's last game vs SC's reserve pitcher, the Titans ONLY got 5 hits and 3 runs....Now they must face the Gamecocks ACE w/ an ERA of just 2.88...Not Good!

Making matters worst for the Titans, and giving the Gamecocks another huge advantage is the fact that they have the Nations best closure in Chad Blackwell, who has recorded his 20th save in yesterdays victory....This is simply not good for the Titans...

In conclusion, I feel that SC with their ACE on the hill, facing a reserve pitcher for the Titans, and being backed up by the Best lineup in the CWS and a hot one at that, it all points to another Big win for the Gamecocks today....Take the Gamecocks as a BIG GAME PLAY!

July is only a few days away....

Just busting some balls, South Carolina had a lot of opportunities couldn't convert. I took Cal for a little but not too much. What do you think Texas will open up at for the final game?

as a titan - with 2 degrees from CSUF - i was VERY happy to see you lose this one!

as we all saw - sarver isn't THAT bad - and him throwing slop up there might have worked out even better for the cocks were slapping themselves silly all night long (pun intended).

haven't seen a line for that game - but initial leans would have to be on texass - since they are tossing their ace - J.P. Howell and we are NOT tossing windsor - but rather ricky romero. i do sense texass comes a HUGE fave in G1 - putting the game almost in the "unbetable" price and actually if the price gets to be too outrageous they are almost forcing us to bet fullerton (not that i will).

the one thing i have noticed is the series price just took a MAJOR hit:

it opened:

texass -300/fullerton +240

it is now:

texass -240/fullerton +200

the way i see it is this:

the ONLY way fullerton can win this is in 2 for once we go from windsor/romero to the #3 starter the drop-off is ENORMOUS compared to texass going from their top 2 to who i believe they would throw on monday - Justin Simmons - and while he has had legal troubles and all - the fact remains simmons is better than martinez and would come about -200 in a monday game.

this will be a TOUGH series for us to win and unless we start hitting better with RISP we will NOT win it all. we also need kurt suzuki to wake up and hit like we saw him hit all season - and then more importantly - we need P.J. Pilittere to stay hot - for if suzuki gets hot - texass will pitch around him and go after P.J. we also need ONE of these 2 guys - Clark Hardman and/or Danny Dorn - who normally bat near the top of the lineup - to do something productive FINALLY or else we are also in big trouble.

Winky....Believe or not, I am as well a Titan fan....Got the best player in the land on that team and a local Hawaiian Braddah in Suzuki, so of course my heart is with the Titan's.....

But in last nights game, with Sarver pitching only his 2nd start of the year and having to do it on a long lay off...like Texas's starter had...and thus facing the Ace for SC and #1 Draft Choice of KC, not to mention that Cal St was in a slump at the plate and SC seemingly was in the Zone with hot bats....Dam, I had to go with the Gamecocks....I felt if this one close or SC was leading maybe 3-1, we would see Blackwell for the Gamecocks close that out, instead of Windsor...But the Cocks did have their chances....I guess their luck ran out....

Anyways, this seems to be a made for Hollywood or ESPN Championship Series as you got Texas Garrido, who built this Fullerton program facing off against his Former Coaches and former team....Something like Student vs Mentor, Daddy vs Son, type of game....Both play seemingly the same type of style of ball...This should be a good one....This time I will be rooting for the Big Underdogs in Fullerton now that my Boy Suzuki is in the finals....He is good friends with a lot of my baseball buds here in Hawaii, so I will be rooting for him....But we shall see the lines first on who I will drop my wager on....Havent taken a look at it yet...

Hope you have a successful Final Series and will keep a eye out for your analysis as well....Good luck to you in the Finals....Aloha CC.

THanks for the insights guys. I will probably lay off TX as I don't ever bet chalk... I may even take a small piece of Fullerton to win the series....
