What happened this year with the defense? I know they had some injuries, but it seemed like so much more. I think they were dead last in sacks, dead last in YPC allowed, 28th in YPP and 30th in total defense. Very uncharacteristic for a Bears team.

Inexperienced backups. Defensive line in shambles exposed weak safeties. Rookie linebackers who over-pursued every run, poor gap discipline. Big 1st round bust in McClelland. Lucky for them Alshon performs like a top 10 pick or that draft is awful.

On to Jay....I like him but probably not worth the money unless you get really lucky and draft a respectable defense.

As a Bears fan, it is a sad day. With the needs that they have on defense, and a QB friendly system that anyone can run (like a journeyman QB such as McCown), this is a horrible investment. Good luck resigning those offensive weapons like Jeffries with this liability on the balance sheet. Guy will be hurt in week 4 next year and they will descend to the NFC North basement. Emery is an idiot.
