Patriot,
I have a question. Is this New England stuff like a cult? My boy Newport, A Maryland boy that grew up a die hard Cowboys fan, now worships Tom Brady. Is there Kool-Aid involved?

I was raised by Roger Staubach and my upbringing led to me ALWAYS and FOREVER root against the home town Redskins.

And through all of this, I BECAME a REAL NFL fan. I still do not like the Redskins, but I will tell you they know their football.

Well as I sit in basement in Whitinsville Mass and stair at my Leroy Nieman of "America's Quarterback" of Roger Staubach, I remember my first year living in New England, and being a closet fan of the franchise, because of a friend named Ted.

So lets go back to the year 2000 and I am sitting and I watch on a 13 inch TV screen from the basement apartment of Park Village West in Westboro, MA and I wath this young kid with energy and heart and PLAY ACTION PASS SKILLS, lead this team in PRESEASON of year 2000.

" AND I SAY WITH ALL MY NFL ACUMEN.......THIS IS THE GUY TO LEAD THIS TEAM" and in my enthusiastic nature. I claimed TOM BRADY as my new guy, and I call everyone and tell them that this is the guy, and even Ted says yea yea yea....whatever, as we live in the world of Bledsoe

AND LOW AND BEHOLD...................THE REST IS HISTORY

I WILL tell you I am more a PATRIOTS fan and REDSOX fan then any teams I have ever loved. I cam to New England and found it to be the greatest place I have lived in my life. Good people, great landscape, JUST A GREAT PLACE....GREAT WATER and beaches. AND I SAY

WHY does this place not have SPORTS legacy This place is so deserving of CHAMPIONS

and I call that friend Ted and original MASS boy, and I say

I WILL SEE CHAMPIONSHIPS WITHIN MY FIRST FOUR YEARS

and LOW AND BEHOLD SWEET MOTHER of GOD

THEY WIN THEY WIN THEY WIN AND THEY WIN

And so no, I cannot claim the suffering of many and generations behind me

BUT I CAN CLAIM ONE THING.............I am thie BIGGEST AND LUCKIEST SPORTS CHARM NEW ENGLAND has ever seen.

......I NEVER LIKED THE MY HOME TOWN TEAMS WHEN I GREW UP

That is because I WAS NOT HOME.......................

I AM HOME NOW, and New England will always be my home!!! And I have a new number 12 at Quarterback.

and Tom Brady like Roger Staubach is "America's Quarterback"

Time to get the paint and paint brush out Mr Nieman.

Manning, bar injury, in great position to go down as greatest QB ever. Need a team around you to win a SB, including a defense.

Its a different era...You cannot even compare stats from 2005 to 1975 or further back, especially in the NFL...The Game has changed so drastically to favor passing yards and completions....remember back in 1975 throwing for over 50% was good, now that would be horrible....

You cannot compare QB's number at all....only for each era...Peyton could be the greatest ever, but lets not forget, he is passing in an entiely different era, than say John Unitas, Bradshaw, Staubach, YA Tittle, receivers use to have to fight to get open all the way down field...no 5 yard chuck rule....

Man YOU are a FAN

Would he have all of these stats if he played outside.

Greatest QB ever, even if he wins one Super Bowl, he has so much failure behind him......GREATEST FANTASY QUARTERBACK MAYBE

That is reaching General. POST SEASON RECORDS are a big FACTOR in this evaluation. and his POST SEASON will never be above .500 level

I don't think anyone is questioning these players greatness:

Tarkenton
Marino
Sayers
Simpson
Butkus
B Sanders
J Kelly
T Thomas
A Reed

and the list goes on. I think a title can enhance a players career standing, but not having one should not detract in a team sport.

PS - If you think Emmitt Smith is the best RB ever, they basically played in a dome (your words about Dallas). Should we downgrade his standing in the game.

Just some food for thought.

Ah, the dead-on symbolism of the reds being beneath you. ;)

Lander - I got my reds and blues confused. It is opposite. My blood bleeds red and I know yours does too. :howdy:

I never said Smith was the greatest QB

And I never stated WHO was the greatest QB either

BUT I KNOW MANNING WILL NOT BE "THE GREATEST QB" This I am assured

I was only responding to the General and his comment, his dream

If you look at the numbers, he will be one of the 2-3 best ever, title or not. The others I mentioned had great credentials, but some people base things on titles and others don't.

I don't know who your greatest qb is, mine was Marino. Many will not agree because of the lack of titles.

Lets go find some killer props this weekend. :103631605

Well I think their is DIFFERENCE in rating the position

WHO ARE THE GREATEST "PASSERS"

WHO ARE THE GREATEST QUARTERBACKS

AT THE AGE OF 38 I AM NOT THE OLDEST HISTORIAN

But please remeber the position is not called Quarterpasser

It has the "back" in its position title because you're to be able to DO more than just PASS

So, I think Marino and Manning will rank one and two at this point as the

GREATEST PASSERS...Sure I will give them that

ALL AROUND QUARTERBACK POSITION, WITH ALL SKILLS BEING WEIGHTED

Much different list:

MINE is JOHN ELWAY hands down. I am no where near a fan of the Broncos, but that MAN COULD DO IT ALL, and HE WAS VERY TALENTED AT ALL THINGS A QUARTERBACK COULD DO

This new era of football, has people thinking passing is all a QB does.

Drew Bledsoe could never run for 6 yards on a bootleg to get a first down in the snow

Dan Marino could not even get 4th and inches on a sneak, he would snap his archilles

and Peton Manning running, I have seen more athleticism out of a german shepard

No matter Men, As a Colt fan, I am glad he and the guys are signed and sealed for several seasons to come. They are the most entertaining team in football offensively. Fun to watch.
