He’s a Hall of Famer,” Schilling said. “And I think the other big thing is that I think he’s a Democrat and so I know that, as a Republican, that there’s some people that really don’t like that.”

Never afraid to open his mouth, Schilling doesn't strike me as being all that intelligent, so I can't believe that I am going to defend him somewhat. He was trying to be funny when he said that he thought Smoltz is a democrat. He & the hosts laughed as he said it. Later in the interview, Schilling says that he doesn't think his views have kept him out of the hof, but they have cost him votes. His post season performances are hof worthy, but his overall career?

I love Schilling. Ya, so what, he puts his foot in his mouth sometimes, but anyone that is willing to talk honestly like Sir Charles and does not give a fuck what people think about him gets my respect.
